Nightmare Fuel / Sabrina: The Animated Series

Go To

There are some moments in Sabrina: The Animated Series that can either be funny or heartwarming. But, to tell you the truth, if Cute Witches like Sabrina won't scare you, then THESE moments will.

  • Sabrina's hypogermia from "Witchitis" starts off during the picnic as her sweat being green, but when Sabrina dries it with a towel and later empties it on the grass, the sweat starts coming together and forms a group of germs who then start eating the others' picnics. Pretty terrifying stuff.
  • The moment in "Witchwrecked" where an Ax-Crazy Salem traps Sabrina in a cage, and then holds up the propeller for the boat's engine. That is a creepy thing to see.
  • The party monsters from "Nothin' Says Lovin' Like Somethin' From A Coven". First of all, the band that arrives in the house during Sabrina's party is simply revealed to be an old man equipped with a set of instruments. Sabrina then casts a spell to bring life back into her party. Big mistake. When she opens the door after that she is immediately Jump Scared by a blue-skinned monster who then starts juggling his eyeballs. Later Pi, who is planning to scare everyone in the party simply by wearing monster masks, enters the basement (well, by accident) and then a skeleton monster arrives and he mistakes it for Harvey. Then Gem Stone notices a pink monster in Sabrina's room that asks her to play Twister. And right then she hides in the bathroom and sees a couple of singing monsters in the bathtub, which scares her for a second time. She runs down the stairs and notices Harvey wearing a skull mask, which scares her as well and urges her to go down the basement, unaware that she then notices even more monsters, causing her to scream one last time. (Heck, one of them even looks human.)
  • In "Generation Zap", Sabrina in Enchantra's body couldn't wait to swap back with the real Enchantra (who in turn is in Sabrina's body), because she finds her job harder than expected and Enchantra in the mortal world couldn't handle any of Sabrina's homework, chores, witchwork, etc. However Enchantra's servant, Stabbenback, hears this and plans to rule the Netherworld now that he has figured out that they were in each other's bodies, which Hilda and Zelda were unaware of. What is disturbing is Stabbenback threating to take Enchantra's place, ruling the Netherworld.
  • Uncle Zamboni and his desire to actually do away with a twelve-year-old boy in "Paranormal Pi" just because he was being a pest, when Sabrina could peacefully resolve the matter. Made worse when he wanted to turn the whole town into frogs. This man needs help.
  • Pi is a source of Nightmare Fuel all on his own. Listen to his Blatant Lies in "Witchitis" and have fun trying to sleep. He also has quite a Slasher Smile that shows up in "Paranormal Pi" and in "Strange New World". This kid has issues.
  • "Hexcalibur" has a scene that's terrifying for Sabrina and Arthur/Harvey and heart-wrenching for Merlin/Pi. Morgana/Gem, is threatening to throw the two into a cursed vortex while forcing Merlin to watch, and gloating about how he won't be able to save them.
Merlin: I'll never see him again.
  • Salem. Just what he wanted to do was so terrible that he was turned into a cat. Sure he tried to take over the world, but...how?
  • "A Witchmas Carol"
    • When the aunts debate on how to get even with Gem for humiliating Sabrina, Hilda and Zelda suggest taking her to the North Pole in a fishskin bikini and letting polar bears chase her. Sabrina vetoes that because it lacks a Christmas theme.
    • Sabrina shows that Gem after death was given a giant mausoleum, where her former friends pay respects but they don't look that sad and go out for Chinese. Sabrina as the ghost of Christmas Yet To Come takes her inside, where an elevator leads them to the top floor. Gem's body is on display, perfectly preserved. To top it all off, her former nanny comes and kicks the glass out of joy that Gem is dead, potentially damaging it. Sabrina expects that this will scare Gem straight about being a nicer person... but it doesn't. Gem is actually thrilled about the fact that she has a really cool tomb and that her body will live on in a sense. It's at this point that Quigley tells Sabrina that not everyone is going to change after a quick scare and that they should try the kind route.
  • Shrink to Fit
    • Spooky's spell was at his meanest, and that says a lot. All Sabrina wanted was to lose a few pounds so she could fit into the fad clothes. Spooky changes it so that you don't lose weight, but your body mass. In a matter of hours, Sabrina and Chloe end up doll-sized while hopping around in one sock each.
    • Sabrina and Chloe are barely around the same size as fleas and are on Salem's body, just as Zelda and Hilda try to grab Salem and throw him in a tub full of water. Think about this: two teenage girls are trapped and about to be thrown into a large body of water, likely drown, at Zelda and Hilda's hand, and no one would even know what had happened. Thank God Salem tried so hard not to take a bath.
    • Eventually, the fleas are chasing down Sabrina and Chloe on Salem's body as they try to reach his ear. They figure they can survive a bath even if they can't survive a flea, and make Salem itch so he'll stop to scratch. Sure enough, they're right; Sabrina and Chloe hitch a ride in a bubble to the scale.
  • The Chained Heat episode; while at the County Fair, Gem insists on dragging Sabrina to an Elf island that's only accessible by fair boat. They end up missing the last boat and only find out after waiting 25 minutes for the next one. Sabrina also accidentally broke Gem's phone while calling Salem for help. Gem may like the Elves and sing along with them, but even she doesn't want to spend the night in a strange place. The girls find themselves having to improvise a means to get to the mainland, complete with outswimming a robot shoark.
  • The Wish Spirit, the villain in the Secret Life episode "Living Her Dreams". She is a ruthless dictator who rules over the dimension of Dreamland and is very good at manipulating people. She manipulates Sabrina and lures her in, giving her the chance to be a queen and make Cassandra her slave... but then she suddenly reveals that there's a "time limit" before you must "pay to stay". When Sabrina finds out the truth, and the real Cassandra finds her way to Dreamland, the spirit goes berserk, trying to attack Sabrina and feed Cassandra to a dragon out of pure rage.
Sabrina (finding out the spirit plans to kill Cassandra):: What did you do with Cassandra?
Spirit: Oh, you mean the intruder? We'll take care of her!
Sabrina (who taunts her): Well, you can't catch me!
Spirit (furious): This was your fantasy, NOW IT'S YOUR NIGHTMARE!
