Nightmare Fuel is the bread and butter of Requiem Vampire Knight. Between the awesome and preposterous, it doesn't change the fact that it takes place in Hell and it can be absolutely horrifying at the same time.
- The premise alone makes the reader unnerved at what would be like ending up in place like this. Even if you try to be as decent as possible and then you are unfortunately murdered by someone bad, you will still end up getting sent to Hell as a lamia and will remain until you or your murderer are expired. Only the most truly depraved and unrepentant prosper.
- As if Résurrection's denizens weren't monstrous enough, there are demons that surround their world and are worshiped as gods by its people. The kicker? They are split into two camps - the Masters of Infinity and the Lords of Chaos - and war with each other, and there is no way to tell which side is better.
- The Archaeologists' ruling class doesn't wear bandages like most of their kind - instead their bodies are so fragile that they spend most of their time in tanks and if they want to get out of it to walk normally, their minions flay someone alive and have their masters wear their skin.
