Nightmare Fuel / Red Dog

• Red Dog's fight with Red Cat. It started off as just a cartoonish rivalry, just your typical bickering between a dog and a cat. Then this scene happens, and it's far less cartoony than you would imagine. It starts off with Red Dog and Red Cat slowly backing away from each other, before Red Cat leaps over Red Dog as he tries to attack him. Red Dog does the same thing as he's about to be scratched. Just then, a group of people come out and watch the fight with anticipation and excitement. Suddenly, the fighting gets all hectic. You could just hear the amount of scratches and whimpers, and they sound a tad bit too real to be considered stock sound effects. The fact that people were just watching in amusement doesn't help at all. Also, imagine if this actually happened in real life.
  • If this were to happen in real life, the cat would be murdered by Red Dog. Causing him to be put down for good.
• John's Death. As much as a Tear Jerker as it is, it's also a painful way to die. He was supposedly hit by a Kangaroo while driving his Motorcycle.
  • Just the mere fact that you can see a kangaroo corpse on screen in a PG movie is really creepy.
• The scene in the bar where they make Red Dog eat an alive chicken just for their sick amusement. You can even hear the dog begin to whine. Red Dog never actually eats the chicken (as John comes in at the right time and confronts them) but just imagine if it did. The results would not be pretty.
  • The chicken can also be seen struggling to escape the man's hand.
  • The men at the bar are also really intimidating, as they appear to be strong and mean. In fact, when one of them fights John, everyone else cheers it on. Chanting "Fight, fight, fight!" in an excited tone. It just goes to show how sadistic they can be.
  • The fight gets so bad the even Red Dog begs them to stop (via barking of course). And keep in mind, that this was the same Dog that was not hesitant to beat the shit out of a cat.
• In one scene, John and Nancy go to a drive-in to see the movie Jaws. We see tense scenes from this movie. Red Dog jumps on to the bonnet of the car and barks at them through the windscreen, scaring them. This happens suddenly, and Red Dog looks quite big and scary, with teeth similar to the shark in Jaws.
• Joko swims out into the water where a large shark has been seen. The scene shows the shark’s fin very close to him before he’s rescued by Red Dog.
• At the beginning of the movie, some of the locals hold the poisoned Red Dog while the local policeman points his gun at him, about to shoot him to put the dog out of his misery. But the policeman lowers his gun and says he can’t do it. Both men and women are upset and crying. This also doubles as a Tear Jerker.
  • The fact that anyone would poison a dog is just horrible.
