The Claws of the Bear
Moments pages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned!
  • The game's recurring villains are mafia, and unlike the last time the Rivales appeared, the paranoia of a wide-reaching criminal conspiracy is played straight. The innocuous AF site is a secret meeting spot for criminals, innocent children are harmed, and the entire overarching story is about them.
  • Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, despite the humorous names, were murdered in a spectacularly brutal way. Rosencrantz especially, seeing as his body is never shown to the player and is smashed so badly that the only way to identify them was the teeth scattered all over the place.
  • Carlo Luciano. A Professional Killer who was feared even by the Rivales Family that employed him, for if anyone crossed him, he would utterly ruin your life to the point that you'll be wishing he killed you. He was believed deceased, but he actually faked his death and took on the alias of Dr. Morton Dreisan, the coroner. The whole time the player believes they're interacting with the disrespectful-but-harmless doctor, they've been talking with one of the most dangerous and monstrous killers in the city.
    • Luciano has left an entire trail of bodies in his wake, having one of the largest personal body counts in the game that spans multiple cases. Sandra Watters, Charles Locke, Cody Hackins, Virgil Black, Steven Jameson and Gladys Porter all meet their ends at his hands in ruthless, grisly and brutal fashion, and he almost adds Mark Watters and Phoenix Wright to that list when he's cornered at the end. If Mendirez can't be talked down due to actions in Case 4, Luciano's Last Breath Bullet takes the Don down with him even as his neck is being snapped.
    • When Luciano is unmasked on the witness stand, he starts cackling madly, his sharp teeth revealed in a terrifying Slasher Smile as he grips the edge of the stand, staring ahead at you with his one functioning eye, and makes it clear that even though his true identity was revealed, he's not planning on going down without a fight. As Detective Watters moves to apprehend him, Luciano takes him hostage with a pistol after casually making jokes about the fact that he killed the detective's wife. Just as he's about to walk out of the courtroom with his hostage, he decides to leave Phoenix with a parting gift, turning his pistol on the defense's bench and trying to kill him as well.
Carlo Luciano: Oh, my dear friend, I did not survive this long in my profession by being a pushover. There are SO many little tricks I could show you right now! I hope you weren't expecting me to come quietly!
    • When Trucy is speaking with Dreisan about Luciano, on a second playthrough it's obvious that he's suspecting her of being on to him. Given his obsession with keeping his identity a secret, had he not been unmasked by Phoenix she would likely have been his next victim.
    • Failing on the last few testimonies to prove that Dreisan and Luciano are one and the same results in a "Miracle never happen"-style Non-Standard Game Over with a monologue provided by Luciano that heavily implies that following Mendirez's execution, he goes on to murder Phoenix, Obadiah and the rest of the heroes.
???: Luciano vanished without a trace the following day. He truly was the famed assassin. Wright had been on track, he just didn't have the evidence to prove it. And that small failing proved quite unfortunate for him and the prosecutor. Who can say if Wright was a man that believed in miracles... But what happened to him was certainly the opposite. You see, this was never Mr. Wright's story to tell... His victory to claim. I, on the other hand... Well, I can't say I have any complaints. Kek... Kek... Kek... Kek............
