Ownage Pranks might be all about prank calling, but that doesn't mean there aren't any scary moments to be had.
- At the end of the "Epic Credit Card Scammer Prank" video, Russell calls back a scammer using the scammer's own caller ID. And if that weren't freaky enough, the man cautiously picks up the phone and doesn't say anything. But a few seconds later, Russell adopts a very deep Voice of the Legion and says "DO YOU WANNA PLAY A GAME, MICHAEL?" Sure, the guy was a scammer and kinda deserved it, but imagine how terrified he must've been.
- In the "INSANE Hostage Situation Prank" video, which is otherwise gut-bustingly hilarious, Russell-as-Rakesh calls the victim using the latter's girlfriend's caller ID, leading the prank victim to believe that Rakesh kidnapped his girlfriend. Yeesh. And you can hear pure terror in his voice, too. He picks up, expecting it to be his girlfriend, then quickly jumps, chokes, and gingerly utters with a stammer "H-hello?" Poor guy.
- "Angry Indian Restaurant Prank Call" is pretty hilarious. But the prank victim got frighteningly angry real easily and actually threatened to kill Russell just for criticizing the way the naan tasted.
- The woman from the "Angry Home Trespassing Prank" seemed to regret that she didn't get to shoot the trespasser, and also there's the fact that she blew up towards the end.Woman: Your people broke into my home. DO NOT CALL ME AGAAAAAAIN!!
- One of the creepiest calls has to be "Creepy Pedo on the Gay Hotline". During one of his calls to the gay sex hotline, Russell came across Jerry, a Puerto Rican man who wanted to role play as a 14-year-old boy visiting the doctor (who was "role-played" by Russell). While it was pretty funny to see Russell be a boner-killer towards this weirdo, Jerry got creepier and creepier as the call went on, hoping for Russell to stop messing around and start actually getting him off. It's really unsettling and creepy.
- The ending of "Insane Cheating Girlfriend Prank" is pretty shocking before you watch the reveal video. It appears that the victim, Joe, intends to beat or even murder his girlfriend when he thinks she cheated, and hearing that it's a prank does not calm him down right away.Joe: Somebody gotta take this ass-whooping. You ain't here; I know where she at.
- The woman from "Psycho Racist Prostitute Prank" can be this for a lot of people, because unfortunately, false rape accusations do exist, and innocent lives can be ruined because of them.
- The father in Indian Robber Makes Angry Dad MELTDOWN (might regret posting this..), after being confronted by the supposed thief of his son's phone, portrayed by Rakesh. He's quite rightfully enraged, and alters between making visceral threats and angry, yet coherent statements over the course of his protracted verbal dressing down of Russell. To make matters worse, when his family (including his son, the requester of the prank) begin to approach him, he makes clear just how infuriated he is with just one phrase:
- Stage 2. While knowing what Russell has planned whenever he busts this out is usually hilarious (And possibly cathartic depending on how the target talked to him), the way he executes it could be terrifying if you think about what the target is experiencing. Such as when Russell took it to a point where he called a target with their girlfriend's phone number on the caller ID.Rakesh: I'm back!Target: Maddie?!Rakesh: Hello! Welcome to Stage 2! (Cue Scare Chord)Target: Where the fuck is my girlfriend!?
- "Calling the KKK as Tyrone" can be this for a lot of people. The klansman says some pretty disturbing stuff such as threatening to blow Russell's head off. And this was all because Russell's character, Abdo, asked for some spices.
- "Prank Calling the FBI (I got caught..)" is a dangerous reminder of what can happen if one takes too much of a risk for the sake of comedy. While the episode is mostly comedic for the prank footage, it's all but said that Russell got arrested as a result of the prank going VERY wrong, leading to him vanishing off Youtube without a word for four months until he was let out.
