There's many a Mythology Gag in The Looney Tunes Show.

General

  • Throughout the series, some characters (mostly Bugs and Daffy) are shown cross-dressing, which has been a recurring gag in Looney Tunes media ever since the original shorts.
  • There are pictures hanging on the walls of Bugs' house in the background of some of the original shorts.
  • Bugs' licence plate reads "TA72740," referring to Tex Avery and July 27, 1940 - his debut in A Wild Hare.

101 — Best Friends

  • Bugs' birthday is July 27th. This is the date that his short A Wild Hare premiered in 1940, also establishing his long running rivalry with Elmer Fudd. Daffy's birthday, April 17th, is determined by his own theater debut in Porky's Duck Hunt.
  • Bugs is a fan of Groucho Marx, an actual inspiration for the character.
  • When Bugs and Daffy are sent through the roof of the TV studio, the Warner Bros. water tower is seen in the background.
  • Bugs still pronounces "moron" as "maroon" like he does in the old shorts.
Daffy: You're from the planet Krypton!?!
Bugs: No you maroon! That's the story of Superman.

102 — Members Only

  • Lola ending up with Pepe Le Pew at the end of the episode may have been a reference to the 90's short Carrotblanca, where due to the severe lack of female Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny was paired with Penelope, the cat that Pepe is always chasing after.

103 — Jailbird and Jailbunny

  • In "Blow My Stack", Yosemite Sam is seen in an anger management help group comprised of notable to obscure Looney Tunes characters all known for their short tempers.
  • Also in "Blow My Stack": the library sections are marked with signs of classic directors - (Friz) Freleng, (Bob) Clampett, (Tex) Avery and (Chuck) Jones.

105 — Monster Talent

  • The song that Gossamer sings at the talent show, "September in the Rain", was also used in the 1937 Merrie Melodies short of the same name.

106 — Reunion

  • The "restraining order" bit at the beginning is taken straight from Duck Dodgers, which was also created by Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone.
  • One bit of animation of Bugs dancing is outright recycled from Ken Harris's animation of Bugs singing "Camptown Races" in "Mississippi Hare."

107 — Casa de Calma

  • Bugs and Daffy travel by burrowing, complete with Bugs lampshading "it's nostalgic" and Daffy saying normal people use planes to travel.

109 — The Foghorn Leghorn Story

  • Daffy's rooster costume is similar to the one in "You Were Never Duckier".

111 — Peel of Fortune

113 — To Bowl or Not to Bowl

  • In the "Vicious Cycles" short, Wile E. steals motorcycles outside an establishment named "Chuck's Roadhouse."

115 — Bugs & Daffy Get a Job

118 — The DMV

  • In the "Remote Out of Control" short, Wile E.'s plan to destroy Road Runner with a bomb attached to his RC car is foiled by the batteries in his remote control running out of power, which happened to him a few times when he was hired by the Supervolt battery company to destroy the Energizer Bunny in the latter's commercials.

119 — Off-Duty Cop

  • The storyline with Daffy and Porky pretending to be a TV cop and his "chauffeur" is a Shout-Out to pretty much any of the old shorts in which they were teamed up to parody action heroes. There's even a subtle allusion to "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery":
    Daffy: You're all under arrest!
  • When Bugs moves all Daffy's stuff into the kitchen, among the items is a sign that says "Rabbit Season."

125 — The Muh-Muh-Muh-Murder

126 — Point, Laster, Point

  • During "Table for One," a clip from "Porky's Duck Hunt" appears on Porky's TV.

208 — The Stud, the Nerd, the Average Joe, and the Saint

  • When Yosemite Sam tackles the race announcer, a store in the background is seen, baring the name "McKimson's."

209 — It's a Handbag

  • The police station's book of criminals features images of various Looney Tunes criminals. Their images are supported by codes reflecting the release date of the first cartoon they appeared in (e.g. Yosemite Sam's is "05-04-45," referring to his debut cartoon "Hare Trigger").

211 — We're in Big Truffle

  • When Porky questions if Daffy is even a duck, he responds by claiming that he dosen't know, before pointing out that his beak comes off rather easily, which he shows by removing it. This is a nod to the iconic Hunting Season trilogy, where Daffy's beak would change place and even be removed due to Elmer Fudd's blastings.

219 — Ridiculous Journey

220 — The Shell Game

  • In "The Shell Game", while Bugs looks up the newspaper articles on his computer, the newspapers are named after former directors of the original Looney Tunes cartoons: "Jones Gazette" after Chuck Jones, "The Clampettonian" after Bob Clampett, "The Davis National" after Arthur Davis, "The Tex News Service" after Tex Avery, "The Tashlin Times" after Frank Tashlin, and "The Freleng Report" after Friz Freleng.

224 — Mr. Weiner

226 — Super Rabbit

  • The episode has a load of oldschool gags used in the classic Looney Tunes shorts such as SuperRabbit kissing Braniac and Lex Luther saying "Be Vewy vewy quiet; I'm hunting SuperWabbit"
  • After Bugs saves Tina and Daffy from a thief as "Bat-Rabbit" (and is ruddely told to not to expect a tip for his actions), he turns to the camera and says "Ain't I a stinker?", a classic Bugs line.
