Mythology Gag / 101 Dalmatian Street

Go To

Being a 21st-century take on 101 Dalmatians, 101 Dalmatian Street is loaded with callbacks to the original film.

General

  • There are numerous episodes where Doug arrives home covered in soot. This calls to mind how the Dalmatians disguise themselves as Labradors by covering themselves in soot in 101 Dalmatians.
  • Photos of Pongo and Perdita can be seen in the Dalmatians' house.
  • In Delilah and Doug's room, there is a clock with a hat on it. This is the same clock which Pongo adjusts for Roger and Anita's meeting in the first animated 101 Dalmatians.
  • As part of the Camden residents, there is what appears to be an English sheepdog who is always seen with a tabby cat who rides along on its back. This may be a homage to the Colonel and Sgt. Tibbs in the original film.
  • Portia resembles the poodle which Pongo sees when trying to find a mate for Roger.
  • Among the Camden residents are a Scottish Terrier, an English Bulldog and a Russian Wolfhound (the latter two are first seen when Diesel is in jail). These are likely cameos from "Lady and The Tramp," which happens a number of times across the 101 Dalmatians franchise.
  • Like the animated 101 Dalmatians film, humans resemble their animals.

Title Sequence

  • In the opening titles, the silhouette of Cruella's head and hair from the chase scene in the animated 101 Dalmatians film can briefly be seen.

Dog's Best Friend

  • The Dalmatians help pair up Mister Fuzzy with a vendor in the park. Matchmaking appears to run in the Dalmatian family.

May Contain Nuts

  • When we see three dachshunds howling at a window, the street view from the window shows Roger's bachelor flat from the original movie.

Winter Funderland

  • When the family is watching a weather forecast, there are two references to the scene in the original movie where the family watches TV: one pup stands up and puts his paws on the screen (like Lucky), while another is perched on Doug's head, unknowingly covering his eyes (like Freckles did with Pongo).

The Dog House

  • When Dolly builds her fake human, the hat it wears is Anita's spring hat from the beginning of 101 Dalmatians, while the jacket is one which Roger wears during the "Twilight Bark" sequence.

London, We Have a Problem

  • When Doug looks in the attic, we can see a photo of the joint wedding of Pongo to Perdita and Roger to Anita, as seen in the first animated film.
  • We also see Roger's music sheets and Anita's reading glasses.
  • The "Cruella de Vil" song can be heard as background music when Delilah and Doug confirm that Hunter is a de Vil.

Fetch

  • Doug implies that one of his earliest meetings with Delilah was at the pond, much like how Pongo, Perdita, Roger and Anita meet in the first animated 101 Dalmatians film.

The Longest Night

  • When Hansel tells the story of the Ice Troll, he claims it seeks to make a fur coat out of puppies. This is exactly what Cruella planned to do in the original 101 Dalmatians.
  • Cruella's voice can be heard when Hansel says "Puppies."

Yappily Ever After

  • To attend the fetch ball finals, Big Fee disguises Dolly as a Labrador by covering her in soot, much like how the Dalmatians do to escape Cruella in the original 101 Dalmatians.

The De Vil Wears Puppies

  • Cruella's spray resembles the smoke from her cigarettes in the animated 101 Dalmatians Film.
  • Hunter's ringtone is the "Cruella de Vil" song from the original animated film.
  • When Cruella approaches the front door of the Dalmatians' house, her shadow can be seen through the frosted glass, much like how she approaches the front door in the first animated 101 Dalmatians film.
