This band provides examples of:

  • Break-Up Song: "False Pretense" is a platonic version about a friendship gone awry.
  • Careful with That Axe: "Face Down" has some screaming in the bridge that can come off as unexpected - once the song started to cross over to pop audiences, an otherwise identical radio edit was produced where that part was sung more melodically.
  • Domestic Abuse: "Face Down" is about a man who tells a woman to leave her abusive boyfriend. In the end, she does leave her boyfriend.
  • Film Noir: The music video to "False Pretense" has a noir murder-mystery aesthetic.
  • Lady in Red: The music video to "False Pretense" has a noir theme. As is customary, it features a woman dressed in red.
  • Unplugged Version: The 2022 "Symphonic" version of "Face Down".
