Rednex is a Swedish Eurodance group initially comprising of Annika Ljungberg, Kent Olande, Arne Arstrand, Jonas Nilsson and Patrick Edenberg, although the lineup has changed over the years.

The group became famous for their One-Hit Wonder Cotton Eye Joe, but vanished off international charts after that, with the group focusing on only staying relevant in North Europe.

It is essentially a manufactured band, as there are over 10 active performers associated with the group.

Tropes associated with the band:

  • Aerith and Bob: The stage names of the performers associated with the band range from ordinary (example: Billy Ray and Jay Lee) to extremely out there (Mup and Boneduster Crock).
  • Genre Mashup: Their primary style was the hybrid of Europop and Country Music.
  • Half-Witted Hillbilly: This Swedish group assumes the identities and dress style of extremely stereotypical American hillbillies, and their biggest hit, "Cotton-Eyed Joe", is a techno rendition of an old Southern folk song.
  • Hardcore Techno: "Wild and Free" from their debut album, Sex and Violins, is of the Happy Hardcore-type.
  • Speedy Techno Remake: They remade "Cotton-Eyed Joe", a song from the 19th-century, with a more frantic pace and some electronic instruments, as well as a lyric change.
