Tropes in Jakarta include:

  • All There in the Manual: Totosse and the babies are not named in the videos and only in descriptions of this group. There is a picture that displays all the characters and their names under "Jakarta Team", but this is rare to find.
  • Animated Music Video: The music videos for “One Desire” and “Superstar” were CG animated starring civilized babies.
  • Babies Make Everything Better: The videos star a baby named Totosse in a world populated by babies.
  • Cool Shades: Totosse shops for and then picks out a pair of sunglasses for his audition.
  • Continuity Nod: In the video for “Superstar” Fredrick watches the video for “One Desire”, and "Superstar" was the last video the group created.

  • Everything's Better with Sparkles: There are sparkles that fly around every victory moment in the two music videos. Sometimes it’s hearts.
  • Jerkass: The fairy in the lyrics of “One Desire” wants revenge on the man she helped get home for no reason.
Situation gone, at least back home. All the dairy wants is war.
  • Location Theme Naming: The band named themselves after a city in Indonesia.
  • Right on Queue: There is a ridiculously long line for the audition Totosse goes to reaching for many miles, but this is Subverted since was there before it got big.
  • Sampling: The band uses samples of Adrian Winkler, while the lyrics were written by Sirko Falke for all the singing, who is credited as Dookey Mackey.
  • Short-Runner: The band broke up in 2011 and their songs were made between 2008-2010.
  • Shout-Out: Totosse does the moonwalk in the video for “One Desire”.
  • Training Montage: The video for “Superstar” shows Totosse getting in shape for his audition with his dog.
  • The Voice: Adrian Winkler did the singing, but he is never revealed in the videos or anything. Justified that the singing is really from a sample pack he and Sirko Falke created for Big Bam Music and Vipzone's "Gentleman's Pitched Vocals", in which this was popular for DJs and European musicians during the time.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: “One Desire” contains random words in between the story of a man who is helped by a fairy after getting lost in the woods.
