The band during the Into the Grave era.
One of the big four of Swedish Death Metal, along with Entombed, Dismember, and Unleashed, Grave was founded by singer/guitarist Ola Lindgren in 1986. Generally favoring a Three Chords and the Truth approach instead of a more technical sound (with some slight digressions into Doom and Industrial territory) Grave has been going strong for over three decades, and shows no signs of stopping yet.

Discography:

  • Into the Grave (1991)
  • You'll Never See… (1992)
  • Soulless (1994)
  • Hating Life (1996)
  • Back from the Grave (2002)
  • Fiendish Regression (2004)
  • As Rapture Comes (2006)
  • Dominion VIII (2008)
  • Burial Ground (2010)
  • Endless Procession of Souls (2012)
  • Out of Respect for the Dead (2015)

Endless procession of tropes:

  • Cover Version: Has covered "Them Bones" by Alice in Chains
  • Power Trio: Started as one, and briefly became one after Into the Grave, since original bassist Jonas Torndal left.
  • New Sound Album: Soulless, which displayed more of a Doom Metal sound .
  • Gorn: Generally a bit more subtle about it than most Death Metal bands, but they do delve into it on songs like Severing Flesh, Brutally Deceased, and Deformed.
