All Hope Is Gone is the fourth studio album by Slipknot, released on August 26, 2008, by Roadrunner Records. This album drops their Nu Metal sound completely in favor of straight-up Groove Metal. It was also released as a deluxe edition with three bonus tracks, including a remix of "Vermillion Pt. 2" that appeared in Underworld: Evolution.
This is also the last Slipknot album to feature the complete classic lineup, with bassist Paul Gray (who died in 2010) and drummer Joey Jordison (who left the band in 2013 and died in 2021).

And the tropes will kill us all:
- Album Intro Track: ".execute." is a noise track with spoken lyrics in the background.
- Break-Up Song: "Dead Memories" is inspired by Corey Taylor's divorce.
- Epic Rocking: "Gematria (The Killing Name)" (6:02) and "Gehanna" (6:53).
- Face on the Cover: The band members standing on a field with tall grass.
- My Country Tis of Thee That I Sting: "Gematria (The Killing Name)""America is killing name
It doesn't feel or discriminate" - New Sound Album: Continuing from Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), this album moves further away from nu metal and more into groove metal.
- Protest Song: Several.
- ".execute." is a rebuttal of Spiro Agnew's 1970 speech blasting protesters of the Vietnam War.
- "Gematria" does not speak highly of American politics:"Feed the hungry, feed them shit
Feed them bones and politics" - "Butcher's Hook" is about the music industry.
- Religion Rant Song: "Wherein Lies Continue""Thou shalt not
Kill your fathers, destroy another life
Question everything we've clung to for years" - Spoken Word in Music: The lyrics in ".execute." are spoken.
- Surprisingly Gentle Song:
- Hard rock ballad "Dead Memories" sounds like a Stone Sour outtake.
- "Snuff" is an outright Power Ballad, albeit a dark one.
- Textless Album Cover: Not counting the Parental Advisory warning or the degrees of the nonagram around the band.
