The mere idea of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and the potential for it to be a genuinely good competitive game, spawned a plethora of associated memes invoking its contemporaries and existing Nick humor.
- Rollback?! note After it was revealed by Word of God that the game would have this online feature, the fighting game community hilariously notes that this licensed budget title will inherently have more stable online compared to other fighters. This includes Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Tekken 7, and even Super Smash Bros. itself.
- How about you get a stick that can handle the Neutron Style? note Using the screencap of Cool Jimmy breaking Nick's skateboard to parody the frequency that EVO tournament players break their fighting sticks.
- I wish my opponent was defeated/dead!note Many have joked that, if Timmy Turner became a playable character in the game, he could potentially use Cosmo and Wanda's magic to wish for his opponent's defeat and thus win by default (assuming their magical ability isn't limited somehow, like by Da Rules forbidding the use of fairy magic to win a contest or kill people).
- The majority of jokes revolve around comparing the game to Super Smash Bros., including directly transplanting memes from there to here.note "Reptar is too big" and "There's too many Avatar/Loud House reps", for example.
- For Weenie Hut Jr./For Salty Spitoon note A meme from 2014 combining Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U's respective non-ranked and ranked options with their Weenie Hut Jr. and Salty Spitoon equivalents as visuals. This gained a resurgence after this game was announced almost seven years after the meme was made.
- Treating different characters like competitive Smash players, getting salty over things like matchups, teched throws, and being nerfed in patches - usually to point out how absurd it would be to take this game as seriously as Smash.
- "Super Smashing Bros"explanation A reference to Nigel Thornberry's memetic catchphrase, which would also be used for his character showcase.
- As Nigel Thornberry was one of the first characters to be confirmed for the game, the other Nickelodeon Fountain of Memes Cartoon Dad, Hugh Neutron, has become the big fan favorite meme character that fans petition for - before the full roster was revealed. He ended up being one of the game's DLC fighters because of this!
"
Oooooo, bad
D.I there, bud. Looks like you're getting zero'd to death, Jimbo."
note Performed by Hugh's voice actor, Mark DeCarlo, over footage of a Smash mod where Hugh (a model-swapped Luigi) punishes Jimmy with a side smash into a ring-out. - #HUGHNATION note The nickname for Hugh supporters, especially on Twitter, which picked up in popularity after Mark DeCarlo — Hugh's voice actor — began supporting it, and especially after Hugh's official reveal.
- While not the main Cartoon Dad in his series and more of a Fountain of Memes Ensemble Dark Horse, Doug Dimmadome, Owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome isn't far behind Hugh in terms of requests, with many of his supporters wanting to see him use his enormous/size-shifting hat as a weapon.
- With this game being announced before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's final DLC fighter was revealed (combined with the every-which-way Broken Bases over that game's characters, DLC, and franchise representation), several parodies surfaced with the joke being that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will reveal a character who generates more hype (genuinely and/or jokingly) than Smash's Challenger Pack 11, such as Squidward, Hugh Neutron◊, Doug Dimmadome, or Garfield.
- Goku for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawlexplanation A spin-off of the "Goku for Super Smash Bros." meme. Due to Dragon Ball Z Kai airing on Nicktoons, many have brought up that, if Nickelodeon was following similar rules to Smash (i.e. only characters that aired on one of their channels could get in), Goku could theoretically be added to this game. This idea comes from the rule that Smash characters must originate from either a video game or a piece of video game hardware.
- Supporters of highly demanded characters vs. supporters of lesser demanded charactersexplanation As a mirror to character supporters for Smash, five of the most highly demanded properties (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, The Fairly OddParents!, Garfield, Rocko's Modern Life, and My Life as a Teenage Robot) were treated by their supporters as far more likely to be included as DLC than other Nickelodeon properties (due to Nickelodeon's habit of canceling lesser shows while also not wanting to see The Loud House and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get over-represented), while supporters for less-demanded characters have pointed out that the characters are chosen by Ludosity and Game Mill, not Nickelodeon. Smash fans became too aware of the irony.
- Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is an Anime Fighternote This video has compared the game to anime-styled Airdasher fighters, due to the seeming massive focus on offense, use of air dashes and air throws, and so on.
- Several fan terms for game mechanics have become memetic due to being inherently funny:
- Spongedashingnote Mew2King, a legendary Smash player, coined the term when he first saw SpongeBob Wavedashing, due to the sheer absurdity of what Nick meant to be a cheap cash grab being, potentially, a more hardcore competitive fighter than Smash is, and a rival to Smash Bros. Melee for the title of most hardcore Platform Fighter.
- Wavetoastingnote Similar to the above, Powdered Toast Man's down special is essentially Fox's infamous Shine, and he's been shown to (naturally) be able to waveshine. In his moveset showcase, the narrator refers to the act as "shenanigans."
- Updognote CatDog's strong up air, when used with Dog in the front, is one of the most powerful moves in the game and can KO at extremely low percents. Naturally, this was combined with the existing "updog" joke, leading to comments that we've finally discovered what "updog" is.
- Patrickcidenote Named after "Ganoncide"/"Bowsercide" from Super Smash Bros., the infamous moves that can grab and throw both the opponent and player off the stage for a quick kill. Patrick's Hugdriver follows the same principle, except it gives Patrick the tiebreaker instead of the opponent, meaning that it's much more useful here than it is in Smash.
- Chaddeusnote Thaddeus Crews, a developer of the game, has gained a big reputation in the community for being very friendly and communicative with fans. He has become the analog to Smash Bros.'s Masahiro Sakurai as the face of the game's development team. And the nickname "Chaddeus" comes from the Chad meme due to Thaddeus' awesome voice and charisma.
- SpongeBob's explicit theme songnote The "Jellyfish Fields" stage theme prominently features dolphins chirping. Since an episode of SpongeBob's series famously used these sounds as a Sound-Effect Bleep to censor profanities, fans have joked that the music contains explicit language and pretended to be horrified that Nickelodeon would allow such a thing in one of their games.
- "Huh. I wonder who that's for."note Based on a Garfield meme, before his announcement, a tweet announced a new fighter would be revealed soon and everyone and their grandmothers knew it was going to be Garfield, as he had been leaked before his reveal, leading fans to reply with this meme. Thaddeus himself even got in on the meme by tweeting this exact quote, ribbing on the fact how openly kept the secret was and his love for the character.
- Chris Pratt is in Smash Bros. and Nick All-Stars!note Due to Garfield's reveal coming hot on the heels of the announcements that Pratt will be playing both Mario and Garfield in their respective films, fans have joked that he is in both games and the key that ties the two games together.
- Sheen Theorynote Sheen Theory was an old joke that came about during the pre-launch portion of the game, after the massive leak came out revealing Toph as one of the starter fighters; In the leak, it showed a full list of all planned characters, but the 2 post-launch characters were scribbled out. Shredder, however, was not scribbled out too well, and part of his render was exposed, leading to rampant speculation of who it might be. One joke theory was dubbed "Sheen Theory," which theorized that the 2 characters were Sheen Estevez from Jimmy Neutron, and the other one was a grey-scaled version of Sheen, dubbed "Dark Sheen."
- Speculation Chatnote Speculation Chat was a very infamous channel in the game's official Discord server, which was supposed to be a place to discuss and speculate details of the game, but the chat soon became too toxic for the server to stand, especially after Toph got leaked. Because of this, the original Speculation Chat channel was archived. However, a new channel popped up, originally called Games Discussion, but was renamed to Speculation Chat at a later date. This new Speculation Chat wouldn't last, however, as it was soon renamed to Off Topic before 2021 ended.
- Abby Trott, uniter of Platform Fightersnote With the voice acting update, Abby Trott now has voice roles in three platform fighter games: She sings the lyrics to the English version of Lifelight in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, is Wonder Woman in MultiVersus, and April O'Neil in NASB.
- Rock Howard for NASB note A character poll hosted by NASB Discord moderator Angye in late July 2023 had at least one person vote for Rock Howard, of all characters, despite not coming from a Nickelodeon show. When people found out about this, Rock gained an ironic support base.
- Ruby Gillman for NASB note From the same poll, at least one person voted for Ruby Gillman, who comes from a Dreamworks Animation movie not affiliated with Nickelodeon. Much like Rock, Ruby has an ironic support base.
- After Gerald's reveal trailer for NASB 2 showed that he would use basketballs as part of his moveset, fans created memes involving Gerald meeting/befriending/being friendly rivals with LeBron James due to both fighting with basketballs in Platform Fighters (Gerald in NASB2 and LeBron in Multi Versus).
- Metal Lincoln explanation Prior to more details being leaked/revealed about the second game's campaign mode, there were people speculating that due to the previous game's budget issues and an increased budget wouldn't necessarily be a AAA one, any bosses an adventure mode in NASB2 would have would have to be Palette Swaps of the playable fighters. "Metal Lincoln" was what was most commonly used to demonstrate this idea. Became a Discredited Meme when it was revealed that the campaign mode would have more elaborate bosses, and Lincoln wasn't playable.
