Manhua / Kitchen Goddess And The Assassin

Go To

Willow Ye is a kitchen assistant minding her own business in the Zhao Mansion when suddenly, an assassin appears and kills everyone in the mansion! Luckily, the assassin's drawn to the bowl of noodles she's made and... orders her to go to his "butte hole"???

Kitchen Goddess and the Assassin (also known as "You Kill, I Cook") is a comedy and romance manhua published by TRCartoon. Aspiring chef Willow Ye is hired by legendary assassin (and picky eater) Sol Crest to become his personal chef in exchange for protection after he kills her employers.

The manhua is 120 chapters long and can be read on Tapas.

Kitchen Goddess and the Assassin contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Chef of Iron: The members of the Nameless House are both assassins and chefs. They take food very seriously.
  • Does Not Like Men: Willow. Her experiences with men have led her to be extremely wary of men in general. Lampshaded by Yun Muxiang when she wonders why Willow is so friendly with Sol Crest.
  • Fake Food: Mentioned in the author's notes of Chapter 46, where the author claims that because they used up all their FX budget blowing up the butte hole in Chapter 41, all the food since then have been plastic props.
  • Follow Your Nose: How Sol Crest initially discovers Willow('s noodles).
  • Healing Factor: Sol Crest.
  • Innocent Innuendo: Sol Crest doesn't seem to understand most of the innuendo he makes, to the glee of Dom Ping and chagrin of Willow.
  • Lethal Chef: Chef Jiang.
  • Literal-Minded: Sol Crest. The "butte hole" he keeps mentioning? His residence, a literal hole in a butte (a hill with steep sides and a flat top).
  • Medicinal Cuisine: Willow makes Angelica Brown Sugar Egg, a dish of eggs, angelica sinensis, and other medicinal herbs cooked in brown sugar, for an injured Sol in Chapter 40.
  • Professional Killer: The members of the Nameless House.
  • Punny Name: Many of the assassins. Notably, Sol Crest and Dom Ping, also known as Salt Crust and Dumpling.
  • Sense Loss Sadness: Chef Jiang.
  • Supreme Chef: Willow. Also, her father.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Gin Tsang has a habit of this.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: Chapter 82.
