Successful works often find themselves getting adapted into new mediums. Television programs find it easiest to adapt themselves into the silver screen, but movies draw from all franchises, enough that we've split the idea into Subtropes:
- The Film of the Book: This film is based on a written work.
- The Film of the Play: This film is based on a theatrical production.
- The Film of the Series: This film is based on a live-action television series.note
- The Film of the Song: This film is based on a song (will sometimes be In Name Only).
- Live-Action Adaptation: This film is based on an animated television series or film.
- Video Game Movies: Films based on video games or video game series.

- George of the Jungle: A new Origin Story, adapting the George of the Jungle animated series.
- Scooby-Doo: A live-action film with a CGI Scooby-Doo, based on the Saturday-Morning Cartoon. The cast returned for the sequel, Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed.
