The Silver Throne is an original fantasy web novel by Netarliargus.

After the Twin Fires are lit and a new age of dragons begins, Queen Elizabeth II transforms into a silver dragon, not knowing that she was truly one of those creatures in disguise. Strife rakes the entire United Kingdom, with the white dragons of Scotland turning against the English silvers and dragons against mankind, and Her Majesty becomes the key to restoring peace over her now-broken kingdom as she discovers her true nature as a dragon.

Not to be confused with The Silver Chair.

Tropes:

  • Beauty to Beast: This happens to the Queen. She transforms from a lovely lady in a chiffon hat to a terrifying silver dragon.
  • Big Bad: Balloch, the thieving White Dragon who steals the Imperial State Crown from the Tower of London, now reduced to ruins.
  • Body Horror: The way the transformation from human to dragon takes place. Not only do scales grow faster than hairs but the neck, jaw, hands, and body change very drastically and horrifyingly, each of them taking place before the other. Only one could imagine how it would've looked like.
  • Forced Transformation: Many human characters in this story's universe, including the Queen herself, transform into dragons. However, these transformations aren't because of a curse, but due to the Twin Fires being lit to show the dragons' true forms, as these characters were actually dragons for the whole time.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Subverted. Many people have thought the Queen, now as a dragon, is a malevolent, feral beast ready to rip them to shreds, but turns out that she isn't at all: she just wants to find her place in the world now that she is no longer human.
  • Metamorphosis: The transformation between human to dragon. As these people who had undergone the transformation were actually dragons who took the guise of a human person and because of the Twin Fires being lit in the prequel, they cannot change back.
  • A Mythology Is True: The story takes place in a world where dragons exist, of course. Even the BBC have reported about dragon sightings in this story.
  • Precision F-Strike: The Queen in Chapter 10. This is a Shout-Out to a quote often associated with her but has since been proven to be an American one, therefore she never actually said it in Real Life.
"We're going to have to take the plunge and, pardon my language, kick some ass."
  • Ruler Protagonist: Queen Elizabeth II is the main protagonist of this story.
  • Transformation Horror: The way the Queen transformed into her dragon form is astonishingly shocking. Her hair falls out, her neck, body, and face mutate, etc.
  • Was Once a Man: Well, it's quite complex. Many humans were actually dragons in disguise despite being born as humans, with the Queen, Balloch, Kitaki, and Lord Hodges being some of them. Ergo, even though they turned from human to dragon, they were actually dragons the whole time, thus when mutated they actually turned into their true forms.
