Magic Hour is an original, fictional story written by gelefant.

It deals with Jermaine meeting and hanging out with different magical/mythical creatures.

    Tropes A to F 
  • Actual Pacifist: Janine is described as a pacifist who abhors violence.
  • Artificial Gill: During the second half of "Mermaid Fair," Calista creates an air bubble for Jermaine to breathe underwater.
  • Awesome Underwater World: During their undersea adventure in "Mermaid Fair," Calista and Jermaine take time to admire coral reefs and kelp forests.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: Meliantha is a Big Beautiful Woman who wears glasses.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: As mentioned directly above, Meliantha is described as chubby but no less beautiful because of it.
  • Blow You Away: Sir Carter's sword can generate gale-force whirlwinds if spun.
  • Breath Weapon:
  • Christmas Episode: "Holiday Helpers."
  • Cool Sword: Sir Carter battles Dragonia with an enchanted sword that can fire energy blasts, generate whirlwinds if spun, and create force fields.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Janine wears mostly black but is a light elf who almost always has a smile on her face, loves bringing joy to others, and (as mentioned above) is an Actual Pacifist.
  • Deflector Shields: Sir Carter's sword can throw up force fields.
  • Dragon Hoard: At the beginning of the chapter of the same name, Dragonia's parents are sleeping on a large pile of gold. Dragonia herself is sleeping on a large pile of gemstones.
  • Dragon Rider: While they're hanging out in "Dragon Hoard," Dragonia lets Jermaine ride her.
  • Dragons Versus Knights: Over halfway through "Dragon Hoard," Dragonia is attacked by an evil knight named Sir Carter, who has already attacked her family at least once before the start of the story. He and Dragonia battle for quite some time before her parents arrive and help drive him off.
  • Earthy Barefoot Character: Alston and Meliantha don't wear shoes and, as fairies, live in nature and are close to wildlife.
  • Energy Weapon: Sir Carter's sword can fire off energy blasts.
  • Everything's Better with Sparkles: Eunice's body gives off sparkles of light as she gallops.
  • Facepalm: In "Rainbows and Unicorns," Jermaine does this when Eunice tells him he could've just told her he wanted to talk to her instead of chasing her through the forest.
  • Fairy Ring: Meliantha, who's a fairy, dances around a cluster of mushrooms at night during the beginning of "Fairy Land."
  • Fantastic Racism: Sir Carter hates all magical/mythical creatures and wants them banished or dead.
  • Fireballs: Dragonia releases a few of these from her mouth at some clouds while showing off her firebreathing to Jermaine in "Dragon Hoard."
  • Fishbowl Helmet: The above-mentioned air bubble Calista makes for Jermaine in "Mermaid Fair" resembles one of these.
  • Flight:
    • Dragonia is capable of flight. While she and Jermaine are hanging out in "Dragon Hoard," she flies at high speeds and performs quite a few aerial maneuvers/tricks.
    • Alston and Meliantha can also fly.

    • Meliantha's dress is described as being made from flower petals and/or leaves.
    • Alston's clothes are fashioned from old, dead leaves.
  • Holiday Volunteering: In "Holiday Helpers," Janine and Jermaine help make and wrap gifts for the less fortunate at a local charity.
  • An Ice Person:
    • Soraya is a simurgh with ice powers.
    • Warrin is a frost dragon with ice powers.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: Sir Carter is a knight who fights Dragonia with a shield and an enchanted sword.
  • Luminescent Blush: At the end of "Dragon Hoard," Dragonia blushes after Jermaine compliments her on her battle with and defeat of Sir Carter.
  • Mermaid Arc Emergence: At the end of "Mermaid Fair," Arabella and Calista each do one of these when they return to the surface.

    • Dragonia and her family are European dragons.

  • Pointy Ears: As an elf, Janine naturally has these.

  • Quaking with Fear: Jermaine shakes like a leaf after he accidentally wakes up Dragonia and her family at the beginning of "Dragon Hoard."

  • Santa Claus: About halfway through "Holiday Helpers," Santa himself appears at the charity and tells the volunteers he's proud of what they're doing and that the kids they're helping will love their gifts.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Dragonia being a roughly human-sized dragon with a head full of hair is a reference to the dragon designs from American Dragon: Jake Long.
    • Sir Carter being an evil knight who harbors Fantastic Racism towards all magical/mythical creatures and wants them banished or dead makes him similar to both the Hunstman/Huntsclan from American Dragon: Jake Long and the Forever Knights from Ben 10.
    • A few to The Little Mermaid.
      • During Calista and Jermaine's undersea adventure in "Mermaid Fair," he says he's happy to be part of her world.
      • Arabella wears her wavy hair in a Tomboyish Ponytail like Melody. Arabella's seashell necklace is also similar to the one Melody has.
      • At the end of "Mermaid Fair," Arabella and Calista mimic Ariel's dramatic splash as they return to the surface.
    • When Alston and Meliantha use their magic to make Jermaine fly in "Fairy Land," he says he feels like Peter Pan.
    • Soraya being a bird with ice powers makes her similar to the Legendary Pokémon Articuno.
  • Shipshape Shipwreck: During their undersea adventure in "Mermaid Fair," Arabella, Calista, and Jermaine explore a sunken ship that's largely intact.
  • Shrinking Violet: Dragonia, full stop. Her father has to nudge her in front of Jermaine, she struggles to make eye contact with the human, hesitates to shake his hand, and has no friends until he shows up in her and her family's cave.
  • Snowball Fight: At the end of "Holiday Helpers," Janine and Jermaine have two of these.
  • So Proud of You: About halfway through "Holiday Helpers," Santa Claus himself appears at the charity to tell the volunteers he's proud of the work they're doing.
  • Spark Fairy: Meliantha appears this way at the beginning of "Fairy Land."
  • Tomboy: Janine is described as a bit of a tomboy.

    • Dragonia wears her hair like this in "Dragon Hoard."

  • Unicorn: Eunice is a white unicorn with a purple mane and tail. Her friend Corwin is a white unicorn with a blue mane and tail.
  • Weapon Twirling: Sir Carter spins his sword while battling Dragonia in "Dragon Hoard," which generates whirlwinds since the sword is enchanted.
  • Winged Humanoid: Alston and Meliantha are fairies with large, transparent insect wings jutting out from their backs.
