Lets Play / Helloween 4545

Go To

Helloween, sucking MOST of the tension out of the atmosphere for 4 years running, and that's why he's awesome.
— A comment on YouTube describing Helloween4545 perfectly.

Helloween4545 is a British LPer who mainly plays Survival Horror games, and often does so as a complete Cloudcuckoolander who plays with the corpses of zombified dogs, names any shotgun-type weapon 'Mr. Shotty' and is prone to an occasional psychotic episode once in a while. He also has named a few monsters (who hasn't?) and sometimes describes horrible things that happen to a man named 'Bob'. His main weaknesses are ladders and lockednote  doors.

His YouTube account can be found here, and he also has a Twitch account for the games he doesn't want to be on his main channel too.

Helloween no longer does episodic Let's Plays on YouTube but does stream games daily on his Twitch channel.

LPs done by Helloween include, in alphabetical order:

His ongoing LP's are:

Tropes that apply to Helloween4545 and his videos:

  • Angrish: When really frustrated, he'll start speaking gibberish for a short while.
    • Made hilarious(er) when it's sped up, where he sounds like an angry chipmunk.
  • Arbitrary Gun Power: He's not a fan of this trope as he often bemoans his fate of firing pea-strength bullets at enemies who soak up tons of damage.
  • Berserk Button: "CRYPTIC BULLSHIT!"note
    • He also has this reaction when dealing with "fake Brits", i.e. people impersonating British accents... poorly.
    • At the end of his LP of Clive Barker's Undying, after hearing the stock phrases of 'IT'S LOCKED', 'STUCK', 'JAMMED' and 'WON'T BUDGE' a million times, he developed a few issues about doors.
    • After scaring the bejesus out of him in the first F.E.A.R. game: "GODDAMN NINJAS!"
    • His hatred of monitors applies - in previous LPs, they slowed his computer down.
    • Lazy console-to-PC ports and stupid company decisions cause him to go on mini-rants.
    • The Evil Within, due to how disappointed he is about how bad of a game it turned out to be. To a similar extent, Cry of Fear also counts.
  • Brits Love Tea: Helloween does not like tea (he prefers not-diet colas), but he likes to poke fun at his own Britishness, spawning sentences like this:
Helloween: "I'd like to have a comfy chair and a coffee. No, you know what? I'll take a tea, being British and all... REAL tea, mind! I've been to America, I know what your tea is like."
    • There's also the tea-scapades in Alice: Madness Returns...
(using a teapot-mortar to shoot a baby-faced abomination) Helloween: "TEA!!!"
    • He also points out in Claire (and in a few other of his LPs) that he doesn't like coffee that much either.
  • Catchphrase:
    • "Hello and welcome back to..."
    • "Well, this seems legit."
    • "Rude!"
    • "Jolly good."
    • "Good stuff."
  • The Chew Toy: Is there a way to die horribly? If so, Bob has already experienced it.
    • In his playthrough of The Darkness II, the darkling is this to him.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: I would guess someone is one if they talked to corpses and pretended they talked back, as it so happened in Dead Space 2 at the end of his first set amongst other things. Not that it's a bad thing.
    • Halfway through his Alice: Madness Returns LP, he randomly split off a second persona called Helloween #2 (who sounded exactly like Helloween) to banter with since Alice wasn't cooperating; a few videos later he spawned Helloween #3 (who also sounded exactly like Helloween) – because #2 had gone on holiday – and they had a conversation about how Helloween #2 is crazy and no one should listen to a word he says.
      • As a result, a lot of his fans think his survival horror focus has scared him well into insanity.
    • Pick any LP of his and watch through his videos of it. More than likely you will end up finding a moment wherein he acts silly for one reason or another.
  • Continuity Nod: He tends to make a lot of references to his older LPs and videos.
    • In Claire, he says "Jammed" and "Stuck" in an Irish accent a few times when Claire finds jammed doors - referring to the main character Patrick Galloway of his Undying LP.
    • In Resident Evil REmake, after fleeing from the room with the hornet, he refers to his dislike of wasps complete with using the same tone of anguish and fear from his wasp warning video.
    Helloween: "Angry, angry women!"
    • In his Castlevania videos, he often refers to the actions or abilities of characters he has played as before such as when he compared Nathan to, say, Shanoa.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Thanks to all the things Helloween has experienced in his Let's Plays, he has become a good one.
    • During his LP of Alien vs. Predator (2010), there's this moment:
    PA: "Weyland-Yutani. Building better worlds."
Helloween: "Yeah, but not better lights."
    • Then there's his treatment of Barry in his LP of Resident Evil Revelations 2, poking fun at his previous betrayal and snarking at some of the man's lines.
    Helloween: "Barry the Betrayer!"
  • Death by Falling Over: Occurred frequently in Cryostasis due to Alexander's feeble legs.
    • Happens to Helloween often in a few of his videos, courtesy of his archnemesis, ladders.
    • Happens literally one time in The Evil Within:
(gets hit for last sliver of health) Helloween: "... Oh no, I fell over. I think I just died of death."
  • Drinking Game: He made one where you had to take a shot every time The Evil Within ripped off an element from a previous horror property. This culminates in him promising bitterly that he would take an actual drink on camera if it turned out the last chapter was called "The Evil Within". Guess what the last shot of the LP was?
    • It returned with a vengeance in the sequel, too!
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Invoked. Helloween considers Chrono Cross a disgrace to Chrono Trigger and has stated that he won't play it.
  • Goodies in the Toilets: The Trope Namer and the one who suggested its existence as a trope. Helloween's quite proud of it too, intentionally invoking it whenever he can.
  • Harpoon Gun: He favoured the Javelin Gun in Dead Space 2, to the point where it was used more frequently than the Plasma Cutter. It's also the weapon he upgraded the most... which made it his murder gun, pretty much.
    • His Agony Crossbow in The Evil Within, when he needed something with more kick than his Pistol.
  • Hellish Copter: He lampshades this when helicopter is brought down by an EMP in his LP of Singularity.
  • Hypocritical Humor: He gets angry at "fake Brits", but he often puts on fake American accents during his Let's Plays. They're... not even close to legit. Case in point, his recap video in his Silent Hill 3 LP.
  • I Am Very British: Quite, except for one little detail (see "Spot of Tea" below).
  • I Call It "Mr. Shotty": As mentioned above, he has a habit of naming just about almost any inanimate object he comes into contact with - such as his best friend Mr. Shotty, the shotgun.
  • Just a Stupid Accent: Mocked in his LP of Clive Barker's Undying. Patrick, the main character, has a horrible Irish accent. Helloween imitates it when he is speaking for him. Helloween apologises to any Irish in the audience, but his attempt is MORE tolerable than the one in the game!
  • Made of Indestructium: If there's ever something that cannot be broken that should normally easily shatter (such as a glass window after being shot at numerous times) it's usually made of "Decentanium".
  • Noodle Incident: The ever elusive "Spider Story" has become his over the years with Helloween teasing about telling it whenever a long load screen shows up.
  • Only Sane Man:
    • Bob took this role in Dead Space 2, where he points out the stupidity of having only ONE power cell separating the remnants of EarthGov on Titan Station from painful Necromorph death and suggests another one be placed in a more secure location. He is ignored. Granted, it wasn't THAT easy to reach, but place a Unitologist up there...
    • It gets funnier when Helloween himself acts like this in almost all of his LPs, pointing out major flaws in both the reasoning of game characters and the logic of particular places' or items' purposes, as well as the enemies' placements themselves.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Helloween starts talking quietly, outright whispering or sounds on edge, it's because he is REALLY scared.
  • Place Worse Than Death: When entering levels of a game that are particularly badly buried in garbage and decay, infested by horribly mutated monsters, or looking like a place you would never want to set foot in, there will typically be a comparison to Swindon.
  • Running Gag: Every LP has at least one of or references to:
  • Sanity Slippage: As the running gags from other videos increase, the less sane he seems, culminating in his 'talking to corpses' moments and his somewhat... sociopathic behaviour.
    • For example, in Dead Space 2, he ended up imagining a conversation between him and some of the corpses about his infrequent uploads near the end.
    • He slips into this the more he rages, to the point that he can go into Angrish mode.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: Overlaps with I Call It "Vera". A lot.
  • Shout-Out: Multiple. For example, several of the voices Ethan hears in Condemned: Criminal Origins are He-Man, Skeletor and Super Kami Guru.
  • Skewed Priorities: Perhaps the best example comes from Penumbra: Overture, in which he entered a room covered in blood, gasped, and immediately focused on a boot.
    • In an Amnesia: The Dark Descent example, upon opening a cupboard full of skulls, complete with a Jump Scare, he gasps 'Oh God'... then picks up a skull, bashes it up and down on top of the desk, and then places it daintily atop the neck stump of a decapitated mannequin and finally declares himself an artiste.
  • Talkative Loon: The 'voices' he seems to have picked for his LPsnote
  • They Killed Bob Again: A typical example of one of Bob's many demises:
Russian Scientist: "How was zee reactor Bob?"
    Bob: "I'M MELTING!"
Russian Scientist: "Ah, he is melting, it is working awesome."
\* Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: In Helloween's case, ladders and stealth are his Achilles' Heel. He also hates mazes with a passion and is as queasy and afraid of hornets as arachnophobes are of spidersnote .
  • You Are Fat:
    • Towards Isaac when he's wearing the Vintage RIG in Dead Space 2. He also tends to rag on other overweight characters a lot, like Norton Mapes from the F.E.A.R. franchise.
    • He calls Ethan from Condemned: Criminal Origins a "chunky meatball", due to how slow he runs.
