Just For Fun / TV Tropes Symphony Orchestra Live From Carnegie Hall

Go To

The TV Tropes Symphony Orchestra presents their greatest hits and renditions from Carnegie Hall. It has the orchestra performing in front of 12-foot, rear-projected background which presents synchronized video.

TV Tropes Symphony Orchestra Live From Carnegie Hall provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Absurdly Long Wait: The pianists perform Opus Clavicembalisticum from start to finish. It goes on until well after midnight because they keep getting it wrong and having to start again. Eventually, the audience along with the rest of the orchestra begin falling asleep out of boredom.
  • Asshole Victim: Raya throws her Firestix drumsticks during "String Quintet in E major, Op. 11, No. 5 (G 275)", and they hit Wordsworth's face, of which he responds by saying "GET THESE DAMN FIRESTIX OUT OF MY SIGHT!"
  • AcCENT upon the Wrong SylLABle: Shana decides to sing during the rendition of "Auto Modown", and ends up sounding like this.
  • "Be Quiet!" Nudge: Phineas forgets to stop playing at the beginning of 4:33. Liz gives him a shove to tell him to stop.
  • Comical Overreacting: Ruby plays one wrong note. She immediately starts screaming in rage and has to be dragged out of the hall by force.
  • Elephant in the Living Room: During the rendition of Für Elise, the projector spontaneously switches to playing the news. Everyone tries to ignore it, but eventually they get sick of it and the performance is paused to fix it.
  • Epic Fail: The entire concert summed up in a nutshell. At the end of the orchestra's rendition of "Lick My Love Pump", the Percussion, Strings, and Other sections go completely out of sync with the other sections being the only ones in time with the screen. Evidently a delay intended to keep the sound in line with the video was removed, but only from the other sections. (At the end of Lick My Love Pump, we can see Greg Universe stop playing his Fender Sonoran SCE, put his head in his hands, and shake his head in frustration.)
