• Although the Cleaner is obviously interested in women, he also gets very suggestive with Bernard, such as gliding towards until he's two inches from Bernard's face and declaring he wants to "clean [Bernard's] dirty cups."
• There are a few instances in "Manny Come Home". Bernard goes absolutely to pieces without Manny around.
  • Bernard tells Manny to go to his "fancy man", meaning his new employer next door.
  • Manny insists that things can go back to how they were if Bernard just says sorry. Bernard asks, almost tearfully:
  Bernard: You’d cook and clean and surprise me every now and again with those profiteroles you made when I took you to the pictures at Christmas?
• Manny and Bernard become quite bickery and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in "Hello Sun". Bernard even sneeringly calls Manny "dear".
• Bernard inviting the pornographer to watch porn together with a bottle of wine, even if it was just because his ruse had fallen.
