• Pretty much anytime Sotomura smiles for real.
• Chapter 23 (Valentine's Day): Sotomura places a gratitude chocolate in someone's locker. That person realises what she's trying to do and sincerely thanks her. She walks away in Tender Tears at having not been misunderstood for once.
• Sotomura crying while seeing her mother off.
• Despite the many, many, many people who misunderstand Sotomura, she has gained Haruno and Yoshinagi-sensei that are the two people, who are not relatives, who know what she's truly like, and love her for her true personality.
• Chapter 67.5. All of it.
• Haruno's anger when she finds out that Sotomura needlessly pushed herself to go to school with a high fever just so she didn't miss their "smiling lesson". Sure, it may have been somewhat harsh because Sotomura had good intentions...but it needed to be harsh in order for Sotomura to finally get the message that Haruno hates seeing Sotomura run her body into the ground and that as friends, she shouldn't feel the need to hide from Haruno that she's not feeling well. Trust your friends to understand why if you can't hang out. Take care of yourself.
  Haruno: I'm going home for today!
  Sotomura: Huh...? Why?
  Haruno: Because I'm worried about you Sotomura-san, so I'm mad. Because I want you to say when you're in pain without pushing yourself like this. Because we're friends!
• Despite getting better at inviting Sotomura on dates, Mikumo's still stuck at square one because 1. Sotomura is pretty dense and 2. He himself hasn't figured out his feelings because he's still terrified of her. However, when Gian visits Sotomura in Japan and Mikumo sees that Gian is totally unafraid of her unnatural smiles, he immediately becomes more assertive in complimenting Sotomura. And when Gian asks if he likes Sotomura, for the first time he doesn't hesitate in stating his true feelings.
  Mikumo: I totally like her! I love her!
• The last chapter ends with a photo of Sotomura surrounded by the friends she has made over the course of the series, giving her first ever genuine smile.
