- Even though the last few chapters were tremendously sad and terrifying, the last scene between Kirie and Shuichi, choosing to just stay in the middle of the spiral together, was really sweet. Moreover, they decided to give one last "Screw you" to the spiral by making sure their last moments are looking at each other instead of that massive spiral that is the cause of their suffering.
- The two Star-Crossed Lovers in the Twisted Souls chapter use the spiral to twist themselves around each other like snakes and are able to escape their Jerkass families into the sea together. Their swearing to be together forever is quite touching and is probably the only good thing to come out of the spiral curse in the entire series.
- Towards the end, Shuichi takes snailified Mitsuo so he can keep him away from the snail eaters.
- While it's otherwise horrifying, the school did build a nice pen for the student who turned into a snail, especially since the student seems genuinely content.
