Heartwarming / Twin Star Exorcists

Go To

  • Ryougo early on asks Benio to have patience with Rokuro, saying that for all his faults and apparent ineptness, he's a good person and excellent exorcist.
  • In episode 3 of the anime, Mayura takes Rokuro to an amusement park in an effort to cheer him up.
  • In Chapter 5/episode 13, after waking up from their battle with Kamui (in a certain bed together), Benio ruminates on the fact that if it weren't for Rokuro, she wouldn't have had the strength to stand against the monster who had crushed her parents. She then genuinely thanks the still-sleeping boy next to her.
  • Both in the manga and the anime, Benio gets down on her knees to apologise to Rokuro for all the trouble and pain Yuto, her brother has caused him. Rokuro in turn doesn't blame her one bit for his actions.
  • Episode 14: Rokuro and Benio's wishes at the Tanabata festival are "to get stronger with Benio/Rokuro". They don't love each other (yet), but they do respect each other's abilities.
    • Ryougo's is "that the family stays happy." Simple and sweet.
  • Higano's and Hijirimaru's flashback is. We are treated to a baby Higano sitting on Hijirimaru's shoulder while they watch the blue sky of the human world together.
  • In Chapter 33 Benio finally admits to herself that she's fallen in love with Rokuro after he comforts her about losing her powers. Then, surprising both of them, she gives him a heartfelt kiss.
    • Before that, Rokuro has apparently been avoiding her and ditching school for the last couple of days, angering more than a few people who think he should be by her side. In truth, he noticed Benio's hairpin, the one he had won her two years ago, had been broken in their last battle, so he's spent these days actually searching Magano (and fighting off Kegare) finding all the pieces so he can have it fixed. He then returns the intact piece to Benio after she apologizes for losing it.
  • In Chapter 37, the Adashino family home is threatened with demolition by a Jerkass from one of the prestigious twelve families of Tsuchimikado Island, despite the furious, heartbroken protests of Benio's shikigami, Kinako. Rokuro lays claim to the home to protect it from being destroyed (by eating the deed waved in his face by said Jerkass, then barfing the paper back up and saying anybody who has a problem with his claim can try taking it back), then declares he won't join any of the established families—instead, he proclaims himself "the first head of the Enmadou House". He then asks for Kinako's help in rebuilding the damaged home to surprise Benio when she returns.
  • In Chapter 39, Rokuro is approached by a young student of the island's academy, who wants to join Enmadou House. Said student's father shows up to express his disapproval and threaten the boy with disinheritance, reducing the kid to nervous tears. Rokuro promptly hugs the boy, glares at the father, and snarls, "Don't make my kid cry!" The kid in question? Arimori Tsuchimikado. Yes, the son of Arima Tsuchimikado.
  • The narrator reveal.
"This was my mother and father's first battle as the Twin Star Exorcists."
  • Chapter 54: While in the middle of all the horrifying potential lives she witnesses, Benio suddenly realizes that in all of them, she never once sees Rokuro. The thought of a world without him helps focus her thoughts because she knows that boy would accept her regardless of the situation.
    • Plus it turns out the two already met once when they were little kids (back when Benio's parents were alive). There's something cute about little Rokuro smiling at her and Benio blushing a bit in turn.
    • As she walks out of the cave in Yin form, Benio remembers she still has to tell Rokuro she loves him, and resolves to do as much.
  • Chapter 72:
    • Tenma encourages Rokuro when it appears the former is about to die, telling him to reunite with Benio. Rokuro promises he will see Tenma's mission through.
    • As he's fighting off giant Kegare, Rokuro himself realizes that he wants to be with Benio and swears that he will live to be reunited with her. Guess who then pops up to help get the Kegare off his back.
    • The two reuniting comes with a Love Confession from both sides and a Big Damn Kiss that blasts the remaining Kegare to bits.
  • Chapter 73: Benio manages to get a glimpse at Yuto's true mental state, showing just broken her twin brother really is. She then tearfully asks Rokuro to help her defeat him; Rokuro mutters with a smile that he couldn't possibly resist such a request from his cute wife. Cue Resonance.
  • In Chapter 76, Benio explains to Rokuro everything that she did to regain her power and her transformation into the Great Yin. She then briefly shows him her true form in the hopes he'll accept her, but he already blurts out how cute she looks before she can finish. And as she hoped, Rokuro is nothing but supportive and loving towards Benio, reaffirming that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, regardless of what life throws their way. She happily reciprocates.
  • Chapter 77 shows the Twin Star Exorcists at twenty years old as a Battle Couple and loving couple. Benio's going a bit into overdrive in their missions recently because she wants to spend more time with Rokuro. Rokuro for his part has already picked out an engagement ring, but still has a few jitters keeping him from proposing.
    • He finally takes the opportunity at the end of their final mission; she says yes before he even finishes.
    • In the next chapters, the pair are in sync making wedding plans while not on missions or talking with friends.
  • In Chapter 84, Rokuro's trapped in his subconsciousness with the Great Yang spirit and a fragment of Yuto's soul; the latter explains in his typical abrasive manner much of how the Spirit works, the truth behind his power and knowledge, and that if left unchecked, the Yang will try to destroy the Yin. He continues to mock his former friend for the potential fulfilment of his dream and the fact he'd need to absorb Yuto's spirit fragment to have a chance of controlling the Yang. Rokuro however surprises him by telling him he's proposed to Benio and has every intention of being with her to the end of their days, so he has no problem accepting Yuto.
    • Yuto then grumbles about how annoyingly innocent he is, but admits all Rokuro needs to do is accept the fragment is already a part of him. Rokuro thanks him, promising he'll tell Benio about how Yuto helped him and hoping they'll see each other again one day. Yuto in turn simply smiles and says who knows.
