Spoilers Off applies to all Hearwarming pages, so all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

Despite Kyoshi's life not being an easy one even before becoming an Avatar, there are some truly heartwarming moments in her story.

  • Being abandoned and nearly starved to death as a child, it's nice to see Kyoshi happily seeing Kelsang as her Parental Substitute and Kelsang treating her like his own. He'd even go out of his way to do nice things for Kyoshi, like become her personal kite when she had none to play with.
  • While Kyoshi was stated to be bisexual in The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars, in her own story, we get to see her actually experience her romantic feelings towards Yun and Rangi.
    • To add onto this, Kyoshi and Rangi's relationship. Even before the two actually get together, Kyoshi is noticeably more attentive to what happens to Rangi and the girls are very open to one another. After Rangi gets beat up by a daofei, Kyoshi nearly jumps down into the ring to save her. Afterwards, Rangi berates Kyoshi that what she did in the ring was exactly how she felt watching her as the Avatar put herself at risk. The two then share a Big Damn Kiss with Kyoshi initially worried that Rangi doesn't feel the same for her, but Rangi only tells Kyoshi that she should be kissing the uninjured side of her face.
    • Rangi and Kyoshi then spend the rest of the book flirting and teasing one another while also being a Violently Protective Girlfriend towards each other.
  • The Flying Opera company, despite being a small criminal group really do treat each other as Family of Choice and would do almost anything to make sure everyone is safe.
  • After Kyoshi convinces the Flying Opera company that she really is the Avatar, she is shocked when they treat her respectfully and suggest going out of their way to disentangle her from their lives because it will be safer for her—even though it will be dangerous for them. Her experiences watching Jianzhu and Yun have taught her that the Avatar is merely a tool for others, and she has trouble comprehending that most people will see her as a sacred hero.
  • Lek slowly becoming an Annoying Younger Sibling for Kyoshi, who at first hated him for worshipping her parents, but comes to respect him. It makes it all the more heartbreaking when he dies after being hit by a poisoned Shirshu dart from Jianzhu.
  • Despite all of Jianzhu's treachery and antagonism in the book and towards Kyoshi, he still deeply cared for his remaining friend Hei-Ran, and thought highly of his time with Kuruk. Which make his later moments rather heartbreaking.
  • As Kyoshi travels to the air temples, she notices Kelsang's statue isn't among the other airbending masters and requests as the Avatar that her father-figure's face be put up again despite what he did in the past.
  • Rangi telling the Flying Opera Company that they are "true companions of the Avatar," and Kirima, Lao Ge, and Wong rescuing her and Hei-Ran from Jianzhu because she's "one of ours."
  • While the books do nothing to disprove the image of the powerful, justice seeking Avatar that Kyoshi would become in her future, they also show her to be a thoroughly human character. Not to mention that probably nobody believed Kyoshi could be this adorable.
