Despite the movie's very bleak tone, there are a few moments that qualify.
- While they also serve as brutal tear-jerkers in context, all of the scenes between Glass and Hawk show just how much love and devotion the two have to each other, in spite of the hardships they face.
- Bridger leaving some food for the Pawnee woman he encounters hiding in the ransacked village.
- Every single scene with Hicuk, the Pawnee who helps Glass stay alive. In particular the scene where he and Glass catch snowflakes on their tongues, which is the only time we see Glass smile.
- Glass rescuing the Ree woman from being raped by Toussaint.
- Glass stepping in to save Bridger from Henry's wrath, in spite of all the pain he went through, Glass knows Bridger never meant him harm and that killing him would be wrong.
