  • The Oner that happens during the opening Ree raid on Glass's hunting party. While what occurs on screen is pretty brutal and downright nightmarish, it's an awe-inspiring use of cinematography that makes the entire sequence breathtaking and jaw-dropping.
  • Hugh Glass is pure awesome in human form.
    • He takes on a literal Mama Bear. He gets severely injured and can barely crawl, but he wins by shooting a bullet in its neck and later stabbing it to its death.
    • Glass finally has Fitzgerald dead to rights when the latter taunts that killing him won't bring back his son. Glass recites Hiruk's words about revenge before sending the bastard downstream to the Ree warband nearby where they immediately give Fitzgerald his comeuppance via scalping.
Glass: (speaking in Pawnee) Revenge is in God's hands. Not mine.
  • The Ree chieftain giving a good "The Reason You Suck" Speech to the French trappers for not showing respect...and he does so in their language.
  • Bridger puts together what Fitzgerald did just from miscounting the number of Ree he'd said were about to attack. It didn't do him a bit of good, but that was a serious show of intelligence.
  • The Pawnee who helps Glass fought off a pack of wolves single handedly and stole their kill. With meteor fire.
  • Powaqa cutting the balls off of the French leader who has been raping her.
  • Glass received a throat wound in his fight against the bear that went straight into his esophagus. How did he deal with it? By putting gunpowder on the wound and cauterizing it with a makeshift torch while staying completely conscious, that's how!
    • Case of Truth in Television; igniting gunpowder to cauterize fatal wounds happened during war when soldiers had no other option.
  • Henry managing to find Fitzgerald and engaging a brief standoff with him. He plans to bring him back to be tried for murder before they both draw their guns on each other. Sure it sadly ends with Henry dying but not only was he a brave badass man but his death proves to be the last straw for Glass who proceeds to end Fitzgerald.
