• The first time Lorna and Ratiri meet up in a shared dream. Neither knows who the other is, but each contributes lovely memories to the dream.
• Geezer, who has no known family, developing a fatherly attachment to Katje, who has no parents.
• The shared dream the Gifted have in the Garden. Their waking lives are dangerous and miserable, but that night there's nothing but peace.
• The rescued Gifted finding safety with the DMA.
• Lorna and Ratiri somewhat awkwardly bonding. They're two very different people who are forced together. It culminates in him not hesitating to pretend he's the kid's father, even though they're not in a real relationship.
