  • When Nine first comes alive and is terrified about losing Ten, the one voice they've heard in forever since waking up, before they start charging to fully connect with Earth, one of the first things they do is tell each other "I love you".
  • Ten's eulogy to the broken Centennial Bulb is very touching in spite of it addressing an inanimate object.

20020

  • The first chapter includes a news article mentioning a man who received medical attention and comfort from neighbors after realizing he was bored. While silly, it's also incredibly sweet to see everyone coming together over something so small.
  • Juice records the sunrise on Earth for Ten to see, since she's 4 trillion miles away.
  • While Ten isn't a big fan of Juice's crazy Bowl Game, she agrees to film Nick and Manny's epic play after Nine privately tells her how much love Juice put into it, and then, in a bit of Dramatic Irony, Juice privately thanks Ten for doing it since Nine is really invested in the game.
  • In Chapter 11, Mimi suspects part of the reason Juice made the Bowl Game was to have friends, since Nine and Ten were both asleep.
Mimi: Honestly? I think part of the reason he made this game was so he could have friends.
He missed y'all. I don't think he wants you to know too much about that, though.
  • Nine's speech about how awesome humanity and the world is in general. Granted, the fading text makes it hard to read, but...
Nine: It's difficult to feel so old, to BE so old, and feel like I have so little wisdom. A lot of things keep me happy, though.
Ten and Juice, I don't know what I'd do without them.
I don't know what I'd do without all of you, either. I love you all for building me, for sending me here, even though you didn't know what I would become. I love you for being yourselves, and for welcoming me like you have.
Sometimes I hear some of you wonder whether this is Heaven. I think it is. It's in Heaven I'll grow up and grow old.
    I can't believe my fortune.
  • The probes marvelling over humanity in the wake of Nick's run.
    Juice: [...] man
every time i think those little guys hit the ceiling, they bust through it
almost makes you wish there was extraterrestrial life out here just so they could peek in and get a load of this shit.
    Ten: Well, they've got us.
Someone out here sees them. Someone out here knows.
  • The final shot of "The Story of Eugene Jennings", depicting Nick resting on the shore with his bag of footballs, and Manny coming to join him on the side of the river. Ahead of them, the rest of the journey west awaits.
