  • The relationships between Red and his Pokémon show that he regards them as True Companions.
    • After Red chooses to box Nidoking because he can't use him anymore after the accidental death of Blue's Raticate, Nidoking understands Red's reason and dries his tear, leading the two of them to share a hug. We're then treated to a good-bye montage showing the key moments of their shared journey, before Nidoking himself presses the button of his Pokéball to be left with Oak.
    • When he puts Clefable and later Golem into the box, it's shown to be a decision they both agreed upon.
  • Red's and Misty's romance is sweet to watch.
    • They share their First Kiss (which is also a Big Damn Kiss) at the end of the Cerulean Arc. The following flash forward reveals they are still a couple, and still very in love, in the future.
    • She teaches him how to use a bike and, when they later fall on each other in the Underground Tunnel, they take advantage of the situation to share a romantic moment.
    • During a friendly rematch, Misty actually wins the Pokémon battle. However, for her prize, she doesn't ask for money. She asks for a make-out session. That's probably the best black-out ever experienced in Pokémon!
    • When shopping at Celadon City's mall, Red spots a Clefairy doll, which reminds him that Misty loved spending time with his Clefairy. When they meet again, he offers her the doll, and she's overjoyed by the present.
    • After Red defeats Team Rocket at the Silph Co. building, she helps him recover, snuggles against him when he watches the news, and helps him escape the crowd to go see Oak.
    • After he falls into the water and nearly drowns, she revives him. After he wakes up, she gives him a huge kiss out of relief.
    • During the training montage of Episode 42, there's a brief scene showing Red taking a break by fishing with Misty and Leaf. Red is sleeping on Misty's lap.
    • In the epilogue, more precisely, before Red leaves for Alola, they're seen sharing a bed, likely implying they're married.
  • In Episode 24, when Red leaves Pallet Town after his brief visit in order to go to Celadon City, his mother and he share a big hug.
  • The two actual ghosts at Pokemon Tower:
    • The first to be identified is Marowak... Who doesn't fight Red, but calms down when he arrives with Fuji's granddaughter and her child Cubone. She then lends Cubone her strength to chase Team Rocket out of Pokemon Tower.
      • Seeing the reunion between mother and child, one of the Rocket grunts start shaking. After being defeated and before escaping, said grunt throws down his whip in disgust... And later gives his Pokemon in the care of Mr. Fuji and his volunteers before leaving, having ditched Team Rocket after realizing his villainy.
      • The presence of Mr. Fuji's granddaughter is this for those who know Mewtwo's backstory in the anime: in the anime, Mr. Fuji worked on the Mewtwo Project in an attempt to ressurected his late daughter Amber. However, Fuji's attempt ended up in failure. In this series, the fact Fuji has a granddaughter implies Amber's equivalent never died.
    • The second is Blue's Raticate, that had been trying to contact Red since he first arrived in Lavender Town to forgive him for his part in his death.
  • Leaf, after all the trauma and sad history the young woman went through, winds up being effectively adopted by Red and his mother into their family. After her long arc and helping take down Team Rocket, she's happily living at their home and joining in for dinner.
    • Leaf giving as good as she receives by helping cover for Red when his newfound and very disliked fame ruins his privacy, and joining in on the adventuring to fill out the Pokédex.
  • Red’s rematch battle with Sabrina. Sabrina starts to realize how much stronger Red has become and starts seeing the future where he becomes one of the strongest trainers in the world. She also sees her own future where she’s friends with Red and the other gym leaders. She gets frustrated because of her own tragic past where she was part of a circus act for her psychic powers. Red realizes how lonely and hurt she truly is and gives her a Cooldown Hug, making him her first friend in a long time.
  • The Gym Battle between Red and Giovanni may be the decisive clash for Kanto's freedom, but has a few moments thanks to Mew's appearance:
    • Oak's arrival at Viridian's Gym and confirming that yes, it's the Pokemon Giovanni had claimed existed the entire time, and yes, he was right. After years of humiliations, finally Giovanni's valor as a scientist is recognized, and by one of those who had previously laughed at his theories.
    • This is also the moment the two former friends reconcile.
    • Mew letting Giovanni pet it - and pushing it toward his Heel–Face Turn.
    • What follows is the final clash of the Gym Battle... But now it's not between Kanto's Big Bad and hero, but between a Gym Leader and his Rhydon and a challenger with his Charizard.
    • While Rhydon and Charizard clash Mew notices that Giovanni's Nidoking has lost his left eye against Mewtwo... And restores it, even healing the scar, just because it could.
    • Giovanni's realization he's not alone, and on his side he still has the Rocket Executives, the Rocket Grunts that respect him as a man and trainer and not just as their criminal boss, and even Professor Oak, Blaine, and Silver, the son who had renounced him over his villainy.
    • Giovanni's reaction to his loss. While at the Rocket Hideout and Silph Co. he had reacted with anger at the interloper and only wished to destroy him next time, this time he compliments Red for his skills and gives him the Earth Badge and Fissure and wishes him well on his League Challenge before cementing his Heel–Face Turn by disbanding Team Rocket and announcing he'll now live to study Pokemon - and then throwing a flashbang to make a showy retreat.
    • Something of Giovanni's positive legacy show up in the final battle between Red and Blue... That come with a Nidoking with Fissure thanks to Giovanni and a Rhydon with a ready Horn Drill respectively.
  • In Episode 42, when Red goes to the Victory Road, Leaf accompanies him until she can't go further because she only has 3 badges. Before he leaves, she thanks him for everything he did for her, most importantly because he and his mother welcomed her as a member of their family. When he offers to shake her hand, she playfully hits his hand, and opts to give him a big hug instead. Then she waves him good-bye as he leaves.
  • After he loses the championship fight, Blue is distraught at being once again defeated by Red... Then Oak hugs him and says "I'm proud of you".
    • Soon after Red goes back home, journalists show up at his home demanding to speak with the Champion... And Red comes out and goes to grab Blue, as he's a Champion too.
  • Red's capture of Mewtwo in the epilogue. Though Red has, and uses, the 2nd Master Ball on Mewtwo, he first sets it on the ground and has Mew defeat Mewtwo in combat first. This act alone causes Mewtwo to smile, and he smiles again while admitting defeat. As Red throws the ball, Mewtwo catches it and reflects on the last time this scenario happened, before allowing himself to be captured.
  • Professor Oak hugging and telling Blue how proud of him he is when his grandson is reeling from a defeat by Red, allowing Blue to get over his anger and pain.
  • The epilogue shows Red sharing the fame in front of the cameras with Blue.
  • When Agatha retires from the Elite Four, Red has to choose a new member... And finally Koga gets his wish.
  • When Red and Blue are invited to Alola, they extend the invite to Leaf. While she prefers to stay with Erika, at least they remembered her - differently from the game developers.
