Fridge Brilliance
- Koga's Weezing uses Self-Destruct during his fight with Red's Snorlax because he ran out of PP for his other attacks, due to Red's strategy to tank his hits and to recover with Rest.
- Using the name "Leaf" instead of "Green" for the main heroine is even more meaningful once one realizes that her character arc revolves around her turning a new leaf after she was forcefully conscripted into Team Rocket as a child.
- Leaf debuts with the Little Black Dress for two reasons beyond it being what she wore in her unused original design:
- For starters, it's extremely similar to a Team Rocket Grunt's female uniform, to the point it likely was Leaf's Team Rocket uniform that she modified upon escaping.
- As said above, her dress is similar to a Team Rocket uniform, alluding at her being a Sympathetic Criminal and still extremely mischievous even as she joined the fight against them (such as capturing her Snorlax after Red weakened him), while he canon outfit appears as she becomes more heroic: she first tries the hat but put its back down right before infiltrating Team Rocket and continuing with a number of unheroic attitudes, she wears the hat in Saffron City after paving the way for Red and Blue to enter it and take on Team Rocket there, and when she enters the fight at Silph Co. she's now wearing her full canon outfit and unambiguously a heroine.
- Sabrina teleporting in at Silph Co. with Bill and Daisy provides in-universe justification to a few things in the mass battle:
- Even with the fastest travel methods it would take too long for the other Gym Leaders to arrive to Saffron City... Unless Sabrina, who can teleport, went to their Gyms and brought them near Silph Co.
- Brock and Misty are completely devoid of shirts and such, even when we know Misty normally puts up something (slighly) more modest when leaving her Gym. Given the emergency, Sabrina likely didn't give them time to grab other clothes, just their strongest Pokemon. And Misty was lucky enough she wasn't in the pool when Sabrina arrived, or she'd have arrived wet and without slippers.
- Sabrina also bothered to retrieve Bill and Daisy. Daisy proves herself a skilled trainer, so Sabrina likely knew it and went to her to get more firepower she could trust as her brother was already there. As for Bill he's a computer expert and could attack Team Rocket's computer security from inside (as he does by freeing all of Team Rocket's prisoners), him being able to bring Red's Nidoking to the fight was just a bonus.
- Rattata/Raticate was implied to be Blue's favorite partner, which may explain why it takes Blue more time to dismiss it as too weak for a competitive team than with his other Pokémon: He's hesitating because of all the good memories they had shared.
- The inability to go anywhere without being mobbed after achieving fame is most likely the reason for Red eventually retiring to Mount Silver.
- Confirmed with the sequel Pokemon Gold, as Red's sudden disappearance is preceded by scenes of him being mobbed by journalists and fans whenever he left the Pokemon League building.
- During Red's trippy sequence when he nearly drowns during the Beach Episode, he sees MissingNo, among other things. Makes sense since he managed to trigger the Mew Glitch, which is one of the ways to make MissingNo appear near Cinnabar Islands.
- Red's choices of who he wanted to bring to the Indigo Plateau hold some significance in his journey. Charizard is an oblivious one given that he was Red's starter, and Pikachu stuck with him the longest out of all the Pokémon he caught. For the other four: Nidoking was Red's first capture and the one that was a powerhouse for the early parts of his journey, Hypno was the one that helped Red captured Mew, Red worked with Snorlax the most when learning how to non verbally communicate with Pokémon, and Lapras was responsible for defeating Giovanni at the Silph Co. battle and cemented Red as a hero across Kanto.
