Heartwarming / Minoru Suzuki

Go To

  • Back when the two were novices at the New Japan Dojo, Minoru and Masakatsu Funaki got into a bar fight against some fans and were arrested. When the NJPW directivs were told the incident, they threatened with firing Suzuki, as he was the elder of the two. Funaki's response was step forward and tell the directives that if they wanted to fire Minoru, they would have to fire him as well. At the end, they were forgiven.
  • Some time afterwards, when Suzuki got involved in a shoot incident with Apollo Sugawara in SWS in which he had to fight him for real, Minoru came to tears thinking he was going to be blacklisted from the business forever, but Funaki and the rest of PWFG wrestlers came to comfort him.
  • At AJPW's Champion Carnival 2010, just the same night he defeated Masakatsu Funaki and reconciled with him after a heated feud, Suzuki gathered the members of his GURENTAI stable (Yoshihiro Takayama, Taiyo Kea and the Tokyo Gurentai boys) and dismantled the faction, stating to wish to reunite with them again in the future. Only days after, he and Takayama appeared in a Tokyo Gurentai show and were made honorific members of the group.
  • Suzuki and fellow U-system remnant Yoji Anjo hugging in the latter's retirement show, after years of battles and interpromotional heat.
  • Helping to set up a charity fund for his friend and former tag partner Yoshihiro Takayama and his family after the latter was paralyzed below the neck due to a botched sunset flip.
  • After winning a grueling retirement match with rival Jushin Thunder Liger, Suzuki has the fallen Liger at his mercy, so he grabs a chair and... drops it, and instead does a dogeza, kneeling and touching his head on the floor as an act of ultimate respect to his eternal foe, an act that had members in the audience weeping Manly Tears. See it here.
