Heartwarming / Masakatsu Funaki

• Back when the two were novices at the New Japan Dojo, Funaki and Minoru Suzuki got into a bar fight against some fans and were arrested. When the NJPW directives were told the incident, they threatened with firing Suzuki, as he was the elder of the two. Funaki's response was step forward and tell the directives that if they wanted to fire Minoru, they would have to fire him as well. At the end, they were forgiven.
• When Funaki left pro wrestling to join the Pancrase movement in 1993, he lost contact with his dear friend Masahito Kakihara. More than 30 years later, they met again in a WRESTLE-1 event, and then Funaki learned that Kakihara had been diagnosed with a malignant lymphoma. So, when the Kaki Aid event was announced, Masakatsu left everything and signed himself to compete at it, in order to raise money for the treatment of his friend.
