Heartwarming / Jurassic World Dominion

Go To

  • In the film, we see Parasaurolophus running across the land alongside horses. Sure, many of the dinosaurs are doing ecological damage to the world, but at least there are a few that proves that they are not entirely a threat. After Owen wrangled and led a single Parasaurolophus to a safe place, three horses walk peacefully alongside the dinosaur.
  • Blue is revealed to have her own baby! After everything she went through in the previous movies, including the loss of all of her sisters, Blue is no longer the Last of Her Kind, and now has a little offspring of her own to keep her company.
  • The very fact that after 29 years, the main trio of Jurassic Park — Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm — are finally reuniting onscreen again, and they don't hesitate to work together with the younger heroes to stop the latest global threat caused by the unleashed dinosaurs.
  • It's reassuring to learn from the Dino Tracker website that the Jurassic Park III Sorna raptors are indeed alive and thriving, even if they are posing a threat on the mainland.
  • In contrast to previous movies where they are Amicable Exes, this movie makes it clear that Owen and Claire became an Official Couple and stayed together to raise Maisie as their child.
    • When Kayla asks Claire if Maisie is her daughter, she says "yes" without even a moment of hesitation.
    • After having earlier told Claire that she's not her mother, Maisie excitedly identifies her and Owen as her parents to Alan, Ellie, and Ian, and the three of them embrace as the family they are.
    • Hell, even the villains refer to Owen and Claire as Maisie's parents.
  • Maisie sneaks out to help the construction crew safely move two Apatosaurus.
  • It's revealed that even after she was released to the wild, Blue didn't cut her ties with her former caretaker entirely, and chose to set up her nest in an abandoned bus not very far from Owen, Claire, and Maisie's new home. She even occasionally comes by to check on them, albeit from a distance.
  • When all Hell breaks loose at the black market, a Carnotaurus and Allosaurus team-up to escape their confines.
  • Wu goes out of his way to reassure Maisie and inform her of the truth of her origins. This not only helps her get past a lot of baggage, but it also pays off in the end when he is given a chance to stop the locusts because of her faith in him. After 2 films as a seemingly heartless villain, Wu being reduced to near tears at the opportunity to make something right is touching.
    • The truth about Maisie: Benjamin Lockwood didn't create her as a Replacement Goldfish; he was covering for his daughter so that her legacy will not be tarnished. Maisie was created by Charlotte Lockwood as a clone, yes, but only because she wanted a daughter. Maisie gets to see footage of her mom and realize that she was truly wanted.
    • Wu revealed that Charlotte was a close friend of his. He begins his Heel–Face Turn because he doesn't want to hurt the daughter of his dear friend.
    • The fact that despite knowing Maisie is a clone, none of the heroic characters treat her as anything else than her own person. Ellie Sattler even reveals that she worked with Charlotte when the two were at the same college, and makes it clear that Maisie was never intended to be anything but Charlotte's daughter. Ellie explains that Charlotte dearly loved Maisie and only wanted a daughter who could get what she never got to have: a full life.
  • Ellie's interaction with a baby Nasutoceratops truly shows that her love for dinosaurs persists decades after the horrors she experienced in Jurassic Park. Even Alan can't help but crack a smile.
  • It's heartwarming (albeit in a kind of sick way) that after being left out of the movies for 29 years, one of the Dilophosaurus gets the final human kill of the series (for now).
  • After Ian momentarily distracts the Giganotosaurus he starts to climb the ladder but almost falls, but Alan manages to grab his arm in time.
  • Alan putting a arm around Ian as they were walking towards the helicopter showing that despite that Ian can be annoying at times to Alan, the two do have mutual respect for each other even after 30 years since their last meeting.
  • Alan and Ellie getting back together, especially after years of being apart. Ellie gets to find love again after her marriage to Mark fell apart, and Alan gets to find love again period with the woman he clearly never got over.
    • The movie also makes it clear that Alan respects Ellie's choice to be single, not once ever acting as though he's entitled to her. He is tactful enough to not try to flirt with her since he observes she's still stung by her divorce, only assuring her he's there for her and sticking by her side throughout the film. One gets the idea it's this approach that endeared Ellie to Alan again.
    • Before learning of Ellie's divorce, Alan sincerely asks how Mark is doing. Even though he seemingly lost out on Ellie and his feelings rekindled during their years apart, he respected that she moved on and he did genuinely care for Mark as the husband of his good friend. Most people probably immediately assume that Grant is delighted to hear of Ellie's divorce, but he's clearly more shocked than anything since he did like Mark and supported Ellie's marriage to him.
    • Much like how Owen and Claire almost immediately develop parental feelings for Maisie in the previous movie, Alan and Ellie also quickly develop similar feelings for Maisie upon finding her at Biosyn. Although their interactions and time together was relatively brief, it's not a stretch to believe that Maisie had come to think of them as her surrogate grandparents.
  • Considering how he was towards kids in the first film, the fact that Alan was the one to ask Maisie how she is doing while they're escaping is particularly sweet.
  • Towards the end of the film, Blue momentarily returns to wordlessly thank Owen for keeping his promise of bringing her kidnapped baby back. After watching their friendship go through the wringer for two full movies, it's a breath of fresh air to see they're on good terms now. They're now leading different lives and both parents to their own children, but they will always have the bond they shared to remember each other by.
    • The fact that it was one of the very last shots of the movie could also be interpreted as her thanking the audience. Sort of like saying, "What? You didn't really think I was gonna leave without saying goodbye, did you? Thank you all for coming on this journey 65 million years in the making."
  • As far as we know, Rexy has never seen another Tyrannosaurus since she was very young on Sorna, if ever. Now, she meets a male and a female with the prospect of forming a new family with them. And as revealed by Colin Trevorrow on Twitter, it's not just a random pair. It's the Buck and Doe from Isla Sorna, who managed to survive almost as long as Rexy.
  • The final shots in general, showing dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals integrating peacefully with humans and modern animals, giving hope for the future.
    • The Mosasaurus has her aggression listed as high and is depicted eating anything close to her mouth. But it's touching at the end to see her swimming among a pod of humpback whales, showcasing that she's not a total nonstop eating & killing machine, and may very well have integrated into the pod of whales, being they are closest in size to her. At the Dino Tracker website, it reveals that the Mosasaurus is working with a pod of orcas to target sharks. It’s especially heartwarming when one remembers the Mosasaurus is the only specimen of her kind that was cloned, so the fact she has new friends makes her not so lonely anymore.
    • An Apatosaurus eating leaves from a redwood tree. Fitting that our parting shot of this beautiful dinosaur is a reflection of how we were first introduced to the Brachiosaurus 29 years ago in Jurassic Park.
    • During the end, in a pond a little girl and a Moros are seen playing friendly, the tiny dinosaur does not show any sign of aggression or hostility towards the girl, rather the Moros and the girl form an Interspecies Friendship. Thus demonstrating that dinosaurs (including carnivores) and humans can coexist peacefully.
    • A flock of Quetzalcoatlus, Pteranodon and Dimorphodon are shown migrating alongside modern birds. Pterosaurs are related to dinosaurs, and birds are dinosaurs themselves since they are descended from dinosaurs, so it makes sense that pterosaurs and birds coexist peacefully.
    • The very final scene shows Sinoceratops migrating with African elephants, having been integrated as one big herd.
    • As a wise old man once said, "If we could all just step aside and trust in nature...life will find a way".
  • All of the heroes have gotten a happy ending: Owen, Claire, and Maisie come together as a family, Blue is reunited with her baby, Alan and Ellie get together, Dr. Wu gets to atone for his crimes, Rexy finds a herd of fellow tyrannosaurs, the surviving dinosaurs slowly adapt to the human world, and Kayla gets a new plane.
