  • Sallah's return shows that his and Indy's friendship is just as strong as ever. Even as an old man, Sallah is glad to help out his old friend in a jam. We also learn that Indy helped him and his family immigrate from Egypt to the United States during the Suez Crisis. And while Sallah complains that his grandchildren watch too much TV, he's very proud of them and their dual identity as Egyptian-Americans.
  • The photo of Marion that Indy keeps on his fridge is shown to be among his possessions in the World War II prologue. Bear in mind, at this point, Indy hadn't seen her for 7 years, showing what he said was true about how none of the women he was with after breaking off their engagement measured up to her.
  • While Indy lied to Basil about destroying the Antikythera, he had the best intentions and just wanted to stop his friend from driving himself to madness.
  • Helena claims she's Only in It for the Money, but as Indy points out, if that were true she wouldn't have bothered memorizing her father's notebooks. He points it out again when he sees the kind of bond that Helena has with Teddy.
  • A minor moment: Indy is understandably pissed off when he finds out his father's watch has been taken from him by Teddy. Even though his father and him were always at odds with each other, Indy still loves him. Upon finding out how much he really values it, Helena immediately tells Teddy to give it back.
  • After bailing out of Voller's plane, Indy and Helena come face to face with Archimedes himself: Unlike a superstitious peasant, soldier, or tyrant who would immediately try to kill someone who clearly doesn't belong in their time, Archimedes just wants to learn more about Indy; while he may have ulterior motives (he wanted to bring someone to his time to help defeat the Romans), it's heartwarming that two people separated by over 2,000 years can have a normal talk. Archimedes is even gracious enough to accept that, despite all his efforts, history can't be changed, and even seems willing to let Indy stay in his time, had Helena not knocked him out.
  • After Helena forces Indy to return to the present, Indy feels like he has nothing left… and then Marion walks into the room, followed by Sallah. Even after everything he's lost, the final scene stands as a stark reminder that Indy's life isn't over and that he has much left to live for.
  • Marion asks if Indy's "back" (referring to him no longer being a depressed wreck), and while Indy doesn't answer out loud, the last shot of the movie is an Iris Out over his hat on a clothesline, before he grabs it, and the iconic theme rolls one last time. He's Back!
