    Main Story

Chapter One - The Fall of Remnant

  • That brief moment where Teams RWBY and JNPR successfully save the poor Wolf Faunus girl from Brainiac's drones. Even if Ruby gets captured shortly afterwards, it's still a sweet moment.
  • Not just Yang going after Ruby when Brainiac abducts her, but their partners too and their friends. And even though Ironwood at first wants to implement his Salt the Earth plan, thereby denying them support, Ozpin convinces him to have faith in the students. This, unknowingly to both headmasters, helps pave the road to Teams RWBY and JNPR ending up on Earth.

Chapter Two - The Justice League

  • Right after he saves the kids from falling to their deaths, Superman has nothing but concern for what did this to them. Batman and Flash share it as well.
  • The kids wake up and, as expected, go wild for a bit in the Watchtower's medibay, but all of the Leaguers that confront them deliberately hold back, making sure not to hurt them. And Superman's first action when he gets there, right after he's learned about Brainiac, is to kneel down to Ruby and give her a gentle hug.

Chapter Three - Last Sons and Daughters

  • Every single Leaguer the Remantians interact with is gentle and understanding of their current emotional states.
  • Superman brings down the Huntsmen students close to his parents' farm on Earth. Then he picks up Ruby and takes her flying for a bit. The red-haired girl can only marvel and laugh at the wonders of the world while the Man of Steel keeps her in the air. And as soon as they land, he asks who wants to go next. By the time they return to the Watchtower, all of the kids' faces have lightened up again.
  • After J'onn tells them the story of his people (and by extension, how the Justice League came to be), Ruby expresses her sincere condolences for what happened to his family.
  • Aside from his antics with Blake being hilarious, Krypto playing around with Ruby, Weiss and Nora is a sweet little moment.
Weiss: Ooh, who's a good doggy? Who's a good doggy? Ooh, We're going to be the best of friends! Yes we are! Yes we are!
  • Superman takes Teams RWBY and JNPR to the Fortress of Solitude and tells them the story of Krypton and how both he and Krypto are both the only beings of that planet still alive, showing he understands their pain. Ruby immediately hugs him, saying he looked like he needed one.

Chapter Four - Adjustment Phase

  • After they've learned everything about Remnant's fate, the League founders start making plans for dealing with Brainiac, any traces of the Grimm, and most importantly, what they do with the students. It's Batman who suggests they be brought into the superhero fold.
    • And seeing as they've been eavesdropping, they know what the League's plans are. And they're all to some level on board.
  • A few little moments where Ruby bonds with Vigilante over their shared use of firearms while Jaune trains with Shining Knight.
  • Sure, Pyrrha's feelings towards her leader were revealed slightly against her will, but after some thinking, Jaune decides that the two of them might give a relationship a shot later on.
    • And Ren and Nora are a couple now, after the latter's feelings were revealed under the same... circumstances.

Chapter Six - Paradise Island

  • Diana's reunion with Donna at the start of the chapter.
  • Flash and Jaune telling Ruby that she shouldn't blame herself for how things went down with Scarecrow.
  • On Themyscira, Ruby gets to forge a sword with Io's permission while Yang spars with some Amazons, one of which flirts with her. Yang gently turns her down, but there's no hard feelings. Both Yang and Pyrrha even get invited to join the tournament being held the next day.

Chapter Seven - Olympians

  • Jaune and Donna having a friendly sparring session, with Jaune openly telling her about how he got into Beacon Academy and Pyrrha's part in making him a better fighter. He's open not just with his fellow Remnantians, but other friends as well.
  • A good sign of how deep Ren and Nora's bond is when Aphrodite, The Goddess of Love, praises it while in the guise of a simple vendor. She then gives them a beautiful necklace, free of charge.
  • Artemis may be a bit of a competitive jerk, but she genuinely respects good fighters. Her tone with Pyrrha, who came close to defeating her, is rather pleasant; the redheads both eagerly await the chance for another fight with each other.
    • Pyrrha in general is elated the entire time of the tournament; for once, she's not burdened by having to live up to her reputation as an invincible fighter, she can simply enjoy the prospect of a friendly competition, whether or not she wins.

Chapter Eight - The Teen Titans

  • Teams RWBY and JNPR bond very quickly with the Titans as they're invited to spend a while at the Tower. In the subsequent chapters, it shows that all of the heroes pretty much consider each of them teammates.

Chapters Nine & Ten - Sudden Shameless Multi-Cross

  • After waking up from a horrific nightmare, Ruby meets up with Jaune who's training at night. She comforts her fellow team leader and gives him hope he'll see his family again.
    • It's easy to miss, but right after waking up, Ruby remembers she's in Titans Tower, the owners of whom she considers to be among her best friends.
  • Ruby captures Control Freak, and after listening to his motives, encourages the hardcore fanboy to come with something that could both show the reasons why he loves the stories so much and also be fun for others. Sure, he still has to go to jail, but he honestly considers her advice.

Chapter Eleven - Fresh New Digs

  • Teams RWBY and JNPR have now gotten their own superhero costumes, and they're all delighted with the results. Ruby in particular tries out her glider cape immediately by jumping off the Tower, getting to fly a bit (she falls into the water, but no harm done.)
    • It's possible part of her excitement comes from the first time Superman took her flying.

Chapter Nineteen - Coming Home to Roost

  • Ozpin revealing the news about RWBYJNPR escaping. It is clearly that this is the best news since the Fall of Remnant, especially for Qrow and Taiyang.

Chapter Twenty-Four - Training with the Bat-Family

  • Alfred having a gentle conversation with Weiss after she's woken up from a terrifying nightmare of some of her worst memories and fears. The blanchette tells him all about her family history, breaking down at the end because there's a chance Winter is gone. The faithful butler encourages her not to be so negative, saying her sister would be proud of the person she's become, and that no matter what her father has done, she can prove the Schnee name stands for something good. It's capped off by an invitation to bake some cookies together, which Weiss happily accepts.
    • This scene becomes a bit more heartwarming when you remember Klein. No doubt Weiss is grateful for the chance to talk with someone much like the man who practically raised her.
  • Beforehand, Weiss comforts a sleeping Ruby while the latter was having a nightmare of her own.

Chapter Twenty-Five - Gotham By Daylight

  • Weiss grows to appreciate Wayne Enterprises all the more upon meeting its CEO, Lucius Fox. The man is nothing but respectful to her and Ruby as he shows them the suits he's designed for Team RWBY, gives them a tour of WayneTech (where Ruby unwittingly gets an internship chance for herself and her partner), and asks the heiress for infromation about Dust, which they're researching.
    • Weiss' delight is even more poignant in her internal thoughts, where she sees that a man like Lucius proves without a shred of doubt that one can be successful in running a company without resorting to morally bankrupt tactics like her father did.
    • Following their talk about Dust, the conversation turns to Lucius comparing Weiss to his own son, Luke. He goes on to talk about how Luke turned down the offer of working at Wayne Enterprises to become a soldier, which makes his father both proud and concerned. Weiss in turn compares him to Winter, only that she joined Atlas' military to escape their father's grasp; that fact shows that Lucius (and Bruce) are far better men than Jacques Schnee could ever be.
  • Lois Lane turns up at Wayne Manor to interview the Remnantians, and despite it being rather exhausting due to her thoroughness, the reporter shows that she's not manipulating the facts in any way or discrediting their former home. There are even hints of Blake considering becoming a reporter herself after a little chat with Lois.
  • Lois has figured out Clark's secret and she's not mad at all. She understands why he's chosen to hide it and is waiting patiently for him to reveal it on his own.

Chapter Thirty-One - Matters of Choice

  • After revealing that he rebooted the multiverse with the Flashpoint Paradox to RWBYJNPR, Flash reveals that ever since he’s met them, he’s been worried about the possibility that Remnant was from a different universe that got merged into the current one, meaning he’s the reason they met Brainiac. Ruby promptly hugs him and tells him that even if that was true, the blame for Remnant’s destruction lies solely on Brainiac.

Chapter Thirty-Two - Home Is Where The Heart Is

  • After Alfred brings them to their new home, Ruby says goodbye with a hug, which the old butler returns. The others' goodbyes aren't as big, but the kids all definitely like him.
    • Also, the Titans helping them settle in. No asking for help, no big proclamations, just friends helping each other out.
  • The Atlanteans and Amazons pledging their aid against the Grimm threat.

Chapter Thirty-Five - Across The Fifth Dimension

  • Nora's birthday party, plain and simple.
  • Clark and Blake's conversation during lunch after she accidentally spills she knows he's Superman. Clark for his part takes it in good humor and explains how the whole thing with the Daily Planet happened. He even gets encouragement from the Faunus on coming clean with Lois (Blake of course has experience with keeping secrets from her friends, so she definitely wants to help).

Chapter Thirty-Nine - Duty-Bound

  • It's easy to miss as it's buried within a very dark scene, but Taiyang calls Qrow his brother. No matter how damaged his relationship with Raven has been, his genuine affection for his daughters' uncle hasn't wavered.
  • Luke Fox doing his best to help "Violet" after she wakes up in a mass grave.

Chapter Forty - What's The Magic Word

  • Mary got accepted into Caltech, and while her siblings are happy for her, she finds it bittersweet because she doesn't want to leave her family.

Chapter Forty-One - First Impressions

  • Ruby and Darla bonding while having a tea party.
  • Ren offering to give Pedro some workout and diet tips so he can get some muscles that don't come from magic.
  • Yang and Billy bonding a bit, even if it's on how their mothers abandoned them.

Chapter Forty-Two - Small Packages

  • Although the others are initially mad about Yang, Jaune, Billy, and Freddy for lying about how big Mr. Mind was, they apologize later when they see firsthand how powerful and ruthless he is.

Chapter Forty-Four - Strength in Numbers

  • Nora pushing Jaune out of the way of an electrical attack by Black Adam.
  • Ultimately Black Adam's hatred of the wizard is overshadowed by his love for Kahndaq, and when the heroes restore communications and manage to show him what his country is facing in the modern day, he chooses to leave to aid them rather than continue the fight.

Chapter Forty-Five - After Action

Chapter Forty-Six - We Fall Apart

  • Once Neptune realized that Ilia is gay, he stopped trying to flirt with her, completely respectful of her orientation. He even offers tips to her on how to hit on girls.
  • It's revealed that Zwei survived the destruction of Remnant and has become Beacon's unofficial emotional support dog, and everyone is grateful to have him around. Teams SSSN and CFVY help to take care of him in the absence of his owners.
  • What's the one thing Qrow wants most in the world? To reunite with Ruby and Yang, hold them in his arms and never let go.
  • Fria tells Penny stories of her time as the Winter Maiden while Penny listens with a childlike wonder. Internally, Fria is determined to make Penny her successor when she passes, seeing her not as a machine but as a living being with a soul.

Chapter Forty-Eight - The Green Light of Will, Part 1

  • After becoming the Winter Maiden and taking out a large number of Brainiac's drones, Penny then uses her powers to cremate Fria's body in order to prevent Brainiac from dissecting her corpse. Qrow then comforts a distraught Penny and assures her that they will escape together.

Chapter Forty-Nine - The Green Light of Will, Part 2

  • Qrow reveals to Penny that Ruby and the others are alive, to which Penny is immensely relieved. She then resolves with Qrow to escape in the hopes that they might see them again.
  • During Raven and Qrow's fight, Raven disdainfully refers to Penny as "the android." Qrow defensively declares "Her name is Penny!" Despite only knowing Penny for a short amount of time, Qrow already sees her as a person whose feelings matter.
  • When Penny manages to escape from Brainiac's ship and witnesses the battle at hand, she is awestruck by the sight of aliens of all different species, shapes, and sizes fighting side-by-side with one another against a common foe. It is from this sight that her initial fears about them are dispelled, and she then knows that the Green Lanterns are not her enemy and that they are here to help.
  • As Penny tries to flee from Brainaic's pursuing drones, Kyle comes to her aid. He instantly goes to comfort the scared android and assures her that she's safe. She then pleads Kyle to help rescue Qrow, to which he immediately alerts his fellow Lanterns. For the first time in a long time, Penny feels a sense of relief.

Chapter Fifty - The Green Light of Will, Part 3

  • After saving him from Raven and tending to his injuries, Hal bonds pretty quickly with Qrow. They even work together to take out one of Brainiac's manufacturing facilities.
  • Willow sheds Tears of Joy upon hearing that her daughters are not only still alive but that Weiss managed to escape.
  • While being treated at a Green Lantern hospital on Mogo, Qrow and Willow share a drink with one another and bond over their shared experiences with their broken families.
  • Kyle reveals to Qrow and Willow that RWBY and JNPR are on Earth. After several chapters, Qrow is finally going to see his nieces again, and Willow will be reunited with her daughter.

Chapter Fifty One - Reunions and Revelations

  • The thing last chapter had us primed for: The family reunions.
    • Qrow gets hugged/tackled by Ruby first, then Yang, all of them crying.
    • Weiss at first doesn't know how to feel about hugging her mother, but then Willow shows that everything that happened has broken down all the old walls, giving her a hug. And then, Willow brings Whitley into the hug.
  • While the flashback depicting Willow and Whitley's capture is largely a tearjerker, there is one heartwarming bit: Klein. He's still faithfully serving the Schnees as if nothing's changed, comforting a despondent Whitley and trying to convince Willow to stop drinking and to speak to her son as well. Later on, he does everything he can to protect them from Brainiac, nearly getting killed for his efforts. While it's hard to read, it's heartwarming to know that there was one person there who still cared about them and did everything he could to save them.
  • Wonder Woman offers her support to Willow and Whitley and gives them both a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech, and Willow is genuinely touched by the gesture.
Diana: "I also want you to know this: you are not victims, neither from Jacques or Brainiac. Both of you are far stronger than that. Far stronger than either of them could ever be. Don't give them any more power by thinking of yourselves as such."
  • While Yang is busy venting in the holographic training room, Qrow strikes up a conversation with Flash and Hawk-Girl. Ruby is overjoyed to see Qrow making new friends. Later chapters reveal that Qrow is even on a First-Name Basis with Flash, referring to him as Barry.
  • It's mentioned offhandedly, but while the other Leaguers wanted to keep the rescue of RWBY's family members as a happy surprise, it is Batman who deemed such a thing to be too important to hide for any reason, no matter how harmless. It's clear that, despite the strained relationship he has with the Remnantian teens, their feelings are important to him.

Chapter Fifty-Two - Being Human

  • Despite alienating much of his team, Violet makes it clear despite everything, Christopher at least has one receptive person to talk to. Peacemaker seems to greatly appreciate that.
  • Willow offering to help Weiss get a better grasp of her summoning and trying to make up for all of the years of Parental Neglect on her part.
  • When Cyborg enters Penny's consciousness, he sees himself as his pre-accident self. It's brief, but it allows him a moment to enjoy his human form just one more time.
  • When Cyborg tries to enlist Penny's help to fight off Brainiac's virus, mentioning Ruby causes Penny to instantly perk up.
  • Penny gets to know Cyborg through some of his memories:
    • Victor helping his fellow students with their homework, standing up to bullies for them, and even helping a student who was forced to miss school because her house burned down by hacking the school computer and changing her grades so she wouldn't fail.
    • When Robin (Dick Grayson at the time) saved him from Kalibak, the now-adult Victor remarks that was the day he met his best friend even thought they didn't know it at the time.
    • His mother standing by her son because even though he technically broke the rules, he did the right thing.
    • Despite being a Tearjerker, his estranged father leaves him a message reassuring him that, despite his condition, he is still human and that he has faith in his son to use his newfound power to change the world for the better.
    • The first thing that Victor did after becoming Cyborg was to help a financially-struggling single-mother by hacking her bank and wiring her a huge sum of money to her account.
  • After they successfully eliminate the last trace of Braniac's virus, Penny gives Victor a Cooldown Hug, echoing what Ruby did for Superman after learning about each-other's backstories.
Cyborg: "What's with the hug? It's nice, don't get me wrong, but…why?"
Penny: "I don't know. You just looked like you needed one."
  • What's the first thing Penny does after being reactivated? Hug Ruby. Who her internal code lists as Ruby.friend.

Chapter Fifty-Three - Brave New World

  • After Whitley suffers a PTSD-induced panic attack after unwittingly summoning a copy of Brainiac's drone, Weiss and Willow immediately move to calm him down. It shows that the Schnee family is slowly starting to mend their fractured relationship with each other.
  • Despite the racist preacher spewing his vitriol against the Faunus, he is vastly outnumbered by a crowd of both Faunus and humans jeering and denouncing his racism. Despite the bleakness of their situation and of those who still cling to old hatreds, Brainiac has managed to actually bring together most of the human and Faunus population in a common struggle.
  • In the areas she controls in Mistral, Sienna Khan has tried to maintain peace between Faunus and humans despite the desperate situation. For all her flaws, Sienna does genuinely seek the good of her people, unlike the dangerously vengeful Adam.
  • After Maria saves Oscar and helps tend to his injuries, rather than scold him for recklessly intervening with a gunfight between the White Fang and the Spiders, she praises him for helping to prevent civilian casualties.

Chapter Fifty-Four - A Normal Day In Metropolis

  • Just the fact that the Qrow, Penny, Willow, and Whitley get to have a mostly normal day after suffering months of Brainiac's torturous and traumatizing experiments.
  • Willow is acting like a more normal mother to her children—-fussing over their well-being and clothing, and playfully embarrassing them.
  • After passing by a liquor store, Weiss notices her mother struggling with the temptation to fall off the wagon. Luckily, Willow manages to resist and Weiss offers her heartfelt support for her.
  • Thanks to Zatanna, Harrison is able to get his brother back from the pocket dimension that he was stuck in. Something that his canon self from Camp Camp never figured out.

Chapter Fifty-Six - Wild, Wild West - Part 2

  • Jonah arranging for Ruby's Wild West outfit and guns to be delivered to her in the present.
  • After hearing about how Weiss started a Bar Brawl, Willow assures her that she's proud of her for sticking up for her friends.

Chapter Fifty-Seven - Friends You Haven't Met Yet

  • Violet's getting along pretty well with Katana and Peacemaker, even having a minor argument with the latter over the Thou Shalt Not Kill-policy heroes employ without it getting too intense.
  • Qrow gets a chance to spend a peaceful afternoon playing video games (Minecraft) with Ruby and Yang while chatting with the Titans.
    • Raven (or Rachel, as Qrow takes to calling her) is noted to be more expressive during their conversation, no longer needing to suppress her feelings because of Trigon and having already updated her look.
  • Jaune bumps into Jessica Cruz at the Watchtower, followed by a pleasant, funny but mostly normal conversation between two teenagers.
  • Through support from Lucius and WayneTech, persistence and a lot of hope, Weiss finally manages to synthesize a tiny Water Dust crystal, a small but strong first step for her.

Chapter Fifty-Eight - Scooby-Doo! And JNPR Too!

  • The interactions between team JNPR (and Penny) and Mystery Inc. in general. It's nice to see the displaced teens make some friends outside of the superhero community. Freddy and Jaune especially hit it off, with the older leader giving the younger one some good advice about leadership and not being too afraid of making mistakes.

    Lost Opportunities
  • Funny moments aside, Weiss' appreciation for cute things extend to Silkie. Even if Yang doesn't get it.
  • During her time exploring her subconscious, Ruby interacts with the Emoticlones (copies of her who each represent one of her emotions), happily figuring out who they're modelled after: Knowledge is Weiss, Bravery Yang, Timidity Blake, Joy Penny, Rudeness Qrow, Love Wonder Woman, Anger Batman... and instead of Sloth, she has Hope, who's modelled after Superman.
  • A nice little movie night with Teams RWBY and JNPR.

    Elseworlds
  • "A Rendezvous with Death": Oz' time spent with Death at her house before he reincarnates again. All the while, Death doesn't judge him at all and shows much compassion for his situation. Don't Fear the Reaper, Indeed.
    • Then there's their parting words, perhaps the best representation of their friendship:
      Death: Ah, leaving already?
Oz: Indeed. Once again, Death, I enjoy these conversations with you.
Death: Likewise, Oz. Hopefully, the next time I see you will be the last.
Oz: (laughs) You always say that.
      Death: And I always will.
  • "DCeased": Despite the absolutely horrifying situation and the pain she has to endure, Ruby succeeds in saving everyone's lives (including those zombified) with her Silver Eyes and the machine Luthor and Mr. Terrific are operating. The short story ends with her and Superman embracing each other after she's woken up a month later.
    Ruby: Thank you.
Superman: No, Ruby. Thank you. For saving us.
  • "Red Son": Superman genuinely liked the children from Remnant as if they were his. Too bad they couldn't see eye-to-eye on his methods, prompting them to take the bottled cities and leave Russia.
  • "DC Bombshells": Team RWBYJNPR escapes Brainiac but all end up separated and scattered all over the world in 1939. Lie Ren ends up rescued and taken in by Chinese resistance fighters, and thinks that he is the Sole Survivor. When his camp his attacked by Imperial Japanese forces, he is shocked to see an amnesiatic Blake, whom had been taken in by the Japanese navy, among their ranks. However, he later realizes that this means that his friends are still alive and sheds Tears of Joy and resolves to save Blake and reunite with his friends.
    • Yang, whom was taken in by the Americans and later joined the Bombshells, is overjoyed to learn that her sister is alive and was living in Great Britain. She's last seen preparing for her trip to London to reunite with her.
