Heartwarming / Gugure! Kokkuri-san

Go To

  • In Episode 1, Kohina is surprised to see she does miss Kokkuri's presence when he seemingly abandons her after a fight. She tearfully plays the game and asks him if she'll never get to eat his cooking again. Kokkuri then suddenly appears, moves the coin to "no", and smiles at her while saying, "I'm home." note
    • In the final chapter, this is repeated after Kokkuri and the others say goodbye to Kohina from the Underworld. However, they do not come home to her when she plays the game. After a few months she realized she missed their companionship and tries to play the game one last time, with Kokkuri repeating his line once again with Inugami and Shigaraki in tow, now allowed to stay in the human world long-term.
  • Any time human Kohina appears during a particularly emotional moment. Especially when she smiles for Kokkuri and again in the final chapter.
  • In Chapter 6, Kohina starts getting nightmares thanks to Inugami's terrifying attempt to get her to sleep, and one night after waking up she goes straight to Kokkuri's lap while he sits outside. Refusing to admit she's scared, Kohina claims she's just there because Kokkuri's sitting on the only chair in the room. He gets off and offers it to her - and Kohina simply runs back to his lap.
  • In Episode 6, Shigaraki kills and stops the pet cyclops spirit from hurting Kohina in her sleep, then removes her ability to see spirits so she doesn't find out what became of her pet.
  • The end of episode 8 has Shigaraki comforting Kokkuri, telling him he's not alone and encouraging him to accept help when needed. The moment is promptly ruined when Kokkuri turns back into a man just as they're going to kiss, and a fight ensues.
  • In Episode 11, the earthbound spirit Kureha has waited for years by an eternally red maple tree for her boyfriend, who died (probably in World War 2). The boyfriend, who had promised to call her first, immediately requested to be reincarnated. He requested to be reincarnated as a maple tree, with eternally red leaves ('kureha'), and had been beside her all along.
  • The lawyer's story in episode 12. He's a workaholic that could never get close to his daughter. And after dying, he's looking to spend Christmas together with his daughter one last time before going to the afterlife. In the end, he and his daughter do get to bond.
  • Kokkuri's reason for spending so much of his time with Kohina was because in a previous life, she had taken care of him, but was fated to die young before he could truly repay her and promised he would come to her in her time of need again in another life. Which is why he goes to big lengths to prevent her from dying young again, ultimately staying with her once the error has been sorted.
