    Story
  • In Chapter 2, when part of Raker's ship explodes and sends Nikki falling down the shaft, Peter—who’s under arrest along with his cohorts—immediately jumps after the young cadet to save her.
    • You can choose to repeatedly stick by and support Nikki, even in front of her mother. It's heartwarming watching Peter just supporting a young girl he's just met because she reminds him of himself.
    • Check Peter's Journal, and he'll have written that Nikki would probably fit right in with the Guardians. Come the end of the game, and she proves to be when the team takes her in and they all kick Magus’s butt.
  • There's a larger sense of cohesion of the team, especially compared to their MCU counterparts. Rocket for example repeatedly shows his liking for Groot (Even citing Groot's friendship as one of his talents in the Guardian's heroes for hire form), and even mentions he formed the teams at the start of the mission based on his desire to hang out with Peter and Groot like when they first met. Peter can similarly be played very supportive of his teammates.
  • Any time Peter gets a new element upgrade for his guns is a mix of this and Awesome, as the catalyst for said upgrades is always seeing someone he cares about (his teammates) in danger.
  • While the conversation with Drax on Knowhere involves seeing what a Heartbroken Badass he is beneath it all, Quill can surmise that part of why he goes to the Rift is so he can feel closer to his late family, as his faith believes that those who die "without purpose" are cast into the void. For his part, Drax accepts the possibility of Heaven for Peter's mother, finishing their conversation by saying that he hopes she made it there. Coming from Drax, it's all the more meaningful.
  • When meeting with Cosmo, the Guardians are initially greeted by Cosmo’s puppies until they run away after Cosmo barks at them. One returns not long after, and proceeds to climb on Peter’s lap, with Peter petting the puppy until the Universal Church of Truth are brought up.
    • If you fail to free Cosmo from the Promise later on, one of his pups will at least help the team get to their ship, and stays behind to try and help Cosmo.
  • In a weird way, Nikki's Promise, which is comprised of her and Peter—whom she refers to as "Dad"—getting Ko-Rel's surprise birthday party ready. It's touching, because on top of wanting her mother back, Nikki wants the three of them to be an actual family...which makes the fact that it's not real, and the fact that saving Nikki involves ruining this illusory party, a bitter pill to swallow.
  • If Peter succumbs to his Promise we get to see what his ideal life would be: living in his Mother’s farm with her and the rest of the Guardians like a real family. Even Drax’s wife and daughter are still alive, and they make plans to go see a baseball game together. Though it’s offset by the fact that Peter is actively being consumed by Magus, it’s still sweet to see that his ideal life includes the pack of wackos that are his team.
  • Mantis, with the exception of Gamora, usually refers to the Guardians by nicknames, because of her weird perception of differing timelines, but consistently refers to Groot by the respectable Sir Groot.
  • Chapter 12 sees Gamora finally reveal to the other Guardians that not only is her sister Nebula dead, but Gamora was the one who killed her. Drax immediately realizes that Gamora's Promise must've shown her Nebula. Gamora never told the others because they'd never want someone like that as a friend and teammate, admitting that she enjoyed being on their team, all things considered. Then Peter points out what had just happened:
Peter: The most deadly woman in the galaxy just admitted…she loves us!
Gamora: [after a Beat, tries to hide a smile] I did not.
Drax: You did. You said you were in love with us, after the part about killing your sister—
Gamora: I said I enjoyed your company.
Drax: That is the Katathian definition of love.
Gamora: Like. I'll—I'll give you like!

Drax: [placing a hand on Gamora's shoulder] We accept you, Gamora Zen-Whoberi.
    • In the battle gameplay preceeding this, it’s Drax, the one who distrusted Gamora the most prior to Lamentis, who realizes that Gamora is not acting like herself and tells the others that they have to protect her.
  • Five words from Peter: "GET! AWAY! FROM MY! DOG!"
  • In Chapter 13, as the Guardians go to hunt Fin Fang Foom, they have a very rough landing on his planet. For the first time, instead of bickering or playing the blame game, they all just laugh about how absolutely on point this whole escapade is. Morale is high enough that they'll even join in on Drax's Kathatian battle hymn before leaving the Milano.
    • Before the boss fight, Gamora asks Drax for any last-minute Foom stories that could help them. Drax replies that one legend tells of Foom being defeated by the unshakable bond of five brave warriors. He even has fun joking about it to Gamora before revealing that he's talking about themselves.
    • The entire Chapter stands out as heartwarming: not only is Drax having the time of his life, after having had a very hard time, but his good cheer is infectious and the entire team spends the whole chapter apologizing for past slights, bonding and working through each other's fears, and generally being supporting and loving to one another - you can event have Peter outright tell the others that he loves them (though, amusingly, this turns out to be a step too far for them). It’s this chapter that cements the reassurance of their Found Family that had been build up in the previous chapters, readying them to be the unbreakable team they need to be in the upcoming final chapters.
  • During the final assault, Drax comments that even if they fail, he will have earned his place in Ultath, the Katathian version of Valhalla, and says he will ask if there is room for his non-Katathian friends.
  • Should you successfully break Cosmo of Magus' hold over him (bonus points by using his puppies as his reason to reject the Promise), he will show up with the Knowhere ship and obliterate the Church's forces for you.
    Star-Lord: He's such a good boy!
Cosmo: Nyet. Cosmo is best of boys!
    • Additionally, if you manage to sow seeds of doubt in the Worldmind during your confrontation with them earlier in the game, they will arrive at the climax and prove very useful in the Guardians pressing forward towards the Grand Unifier.
  • Peter doing his best to console an upset Nikki, especially if you choose the correct options acknowledging that Nikki's pain is unique to her, that what has happened is not her fault, and trusting her not to accept Magus' illusion.
Star-Lord: You're not the reason she's gone, Nik. Don't put that on yourself.
Nikki: Why not? It's true! If I had just-
Star-Lord: It's not true. You didn't make that thing. You didn't release it. You're not the reason your mom was where she was. There's a lot of blame to go around, but there is no way you deserve any of it.
  • Peter has a mirror conversation with himself about how he's going to raise Nikki. He doubts that he's capable of raising a child but he shows absolutely no hesitation in thinking of her as his daughter. After all, he may not be her father, but he's still her daddy.
  • An optional dialogue on Knowhere has Peter Quill find Drax at the observation deck overlooking the edge of the universe, where they talk quietly about their lost families.
    • In the Epilogue, if you triggered this dialogue and picked the right options, Drax and Peter make visiting Knowhere to reminisce about their respective families over drinks a regular thing. The accompanying photo is of Peter and Drax smiling broadly.

    Collectible Stories
  • When Gamora finds Peter looking at a pair of Chitauri handcuffs, they end up talking about Peter's time in the Chitauri prison following his abduction. Gamora ends the conversation by saying that she's grateful that Peter escaped that place alive.
    • Should Peter buy a doll for her in Knowhere, she will sincerely thank him and note that such a selfless act of giving is still new to her. While the context of her doll collection is sad, Peter ends the conversation by reminding her that he gave it to her because he cares about her and that she's a valued member of the team. Gamora is left almost speechless.
  • When Drax finds Peter examining the Candle, they end up talking about how people in Katathian religion end up in either the heaven of Ultath or the frozen hell of Sarduth.
    • The fact that there is more than one way into Ultath other than the warrior's path or the path or revenge. Drax mentions that a life's purpose can also be to one's trade or their family.
    • Drax explains that in regards to those who have no life record (for example, Peter), the kings and queens of Ultath will instead receive the life record from those the subject knew in life. Peter cringes, because he thinks that includes people like Yondu, whom he'd betrayed when the latter had gone too far. But Drax matter-of-factly points out that Peter's dedication to the Guardians, and to Ko-Rel and Nikki, are testament enough to his worthiness for Ultath.
