- Episode 1 "Begin the Defense of Earth!", the main reason Shun was able to manifest his Gate ability? His anger over his family being in danger from the Invader attack.
- Episode 2, Shun's hesitation at becoming a Gate Keeper. It's not out of fear or laziness, rather Shun was afraid of neglecting his family duties. Something he was still angry at his father for even years after his death.
- The ending of episode 6 "Infiltrate the Haunted Female Dormitory!". After what appears to be a Nightmare Fuel styled Invader attack at Sumire Dormitory. Turns out all the strange things were just a harmless prank. Though Shun scolds Ruriko for frightening everyone when they're already on high alert thanks to the Invader threat. His views actually leave Ruriko a bit impressed.
- Episode 12, "Fly to the Northern Lands!". When Shun and Ruriko first meet Yukino. Yukino was so heartbreakingly sweet throughout the whole thing. The fact that Shun kept encouraging her and telling her to not give up was very heartwarming.
