  • While talking with Poirot, Rosalie unexpectedly goes on a tirade about how jealous she is of Linnet, and how she knows feeling like that is wrong but she can't stop it. Poirot reassures her that it's perfectly natural, and that it's good not to bottle up one's feelings.
  • "But, thank God, there is happiness in the world."
"As you say, Madame, thank God for it."
  • There are several heartwarming elements in the solution to the murder mystery: a) that despite appearances, Simon actually stayed true to his first love Jacqueline (despite the flip side that he was monstrously using and tricking Linnet) and b) that Jacqueline was not the Yandere she was acting, and had even been willing to set Simon free to be with Linnet if he wanted.
  • Jackie's last words in the epilogue.
    "It's all right, Simon. A fool's game, and we've lost. That's all."
  • Rosalie Otterbourne's romance with Tim Allerton, saving him from his growing life of crime while also gaining the loving, caring mother figure that she never had in the bargain.
