Who would have thought that zombies, of all creatures, could be capable of romance. It's surprisingly sweet.

  • There are moments of this within the montage of several characters (e.g. Vanderohe, Scott, Maria and Soccer Mom) during the Vegas outbreak. They are repeatedly shown going out of their way to help save people as opposed to looking out for only themselves. This includes attempting to cut a trapped couple out of their car before unfortunately finding out they are already infected, rescuing a store worker from her workplace that seems to be swarming and going to fetch a child who appears to be in shock on the road with a toy, as a hoard approach.
  • The scene of Vanderohe at his hydrotherapy job in the swimming pool, with an elderly woman who expresses sadness at how her daughter doesn't visit. Vanderohe reassures her and ends up getting the lady to genuinely laugh.
  • Kate Ward's devotion in attempting to help refugees that are very abused by several workers there. Standing up to them and taking personal knowledge and interest in them all - knowing the names of all the women who Zeus takes captive.
    • Even just how far she will go with venturing into Vegas to try rescue her friend is this.
  • Geeta attempting to go into Vegas to try find some way to be able to get her kids out of the camp, before a nuke arrives. She was intending to put her own self at this very large risk, for the sake of her children had never intended for anyone else like Kate to risk themselves getting in danger for her. Having even asked Kate to look out for her children just in case on the outside.
  • The affectionate moments between Zeus and the Queen are strangely sweet.
  • In a small way, the fact that despite the amount of money offered getting comically smaller to each next person - the fact that Scott sincerely wanted to give Maria a fair and equal share to him, shows just how much he values her with how close they were during the initial outbreak.
    • In a similar vein, while Mickey is the one they hire, he wanted to share his part equally with his coworkers.
  • The revelation of Maria's true motive in going to Vegas. It's not the money she wants, she is doing it because she loves Scott.
  • Dieter's altruistic Heroic Sacrifice to try save Vanderohe is in itself this and also a tearjerker.
    • The buildup of the strange bond between the two of them, as well as how this calls back to when Gwendoline sacrificed herself to save him in Army of Thieves. The look on his face as a man ready to give up his life for his friend even as we see Zeus's hand clamp onto his face, and Vanderhoe yelling out, only tugs on the heartstrings even more.
  • Marianne Peters coming back for the remaining survivors instead of fleeing to save her own skin from the about to hit nuke.
