Heart Warming / My Little Pony: Totally Legit Recap

Go To

     General
  • DWK will often drop the comedy to point out things that genuinely moved him or why he respects certain characters, like how the Humane Five take responsibility and try to help Sunset in the second movie, while she is ostracized by the school and needed someone even if they were not entirely sure what to do with her, and also that Sunset wasn't completely Easily Forgiven and had to earn her redemption.
    • He also repeatedly states his respect and admiration for Spike as a Nice Guy who's genuinely happy with his life, inspite of his Butt-Monkey status.

     Equestria Girls
  • The climax of Equestria Girls has a few:
    • Twilight trying to talk Sunset into going down peacefully.
    • DWK expressing admiration towards Twilight for being willing to always give her enemies a chance to go peacefully, but always being ready to just smack some sense into them if they refuse.
    • Twilight getting over her doubts about being a princess, not because she wants to, but because she knows there are more important things in the world than her personal happiness.
    • Twilight telling Sunset Shimmer that it is not too late to turn her life around:
Twilight: Dude, you'll be surprised what people will forgive, if you make the effort. You can fix this. But, you have to start now.
  • Earlier in the film, Twilight says there is nothing she can't do without her friends, despite how they normally don't get along too well.
  • The DWK admitting that after having doubts about the Equestria Girls movie, he actually started having fun during the "Help Twilight Win the Crown" song.
    • In a weird way, him saying that ponies mixed with pop songs and then getting two songs in a row, gave him a raging "heart-on". Not to sound sexual, of course.

     Season Six
  • During "The Times they are a Changeling" DWK seriously addresses the fact that Shinning Armor, in spite of coming off a little prejudice against changelings, he's not in the wrong considering what they did to him and his loved ones, and the threat they still pose.
    • How DWK handles Spike learning to stand up for his friend, even at the risk of his own popularity:
DWK: And just when [Steve/Thorax] needs a homie to get his back the most, Spike bitches out. And that's when our little dragon bro suffers another one of those cruel epiphanies we jokingly call "life lessons:" other people's respect doesn't mean anything if you know you're an asshole. And even if standing up for a friend might ruin your life, it's still better than hating yourself.
    • Spike standing up for Steve:
Shining: Hay! It's that guy. Fuck that guy!
Spike: Nah dude, fuck me. I thought I was a cool guy just because I was popular and I got so drunk on all this crystal puss-puss, that I let my homeboy down. Steve is my friend, and if you don't like it, blow me.
DWK: Next time, when any of you motherfuckers feel like talking shit about Spike, ask yourselves; would you belt out a ballad in front of a crowd of angry people just to save your buddy's ass?
    • And later:
Twilight: You know what Steve, if Spike's vouching for you, then as far as I'm concerned, we're cool. Pound it. Dude, Spike I'm so proud of you man. Bros before hos is a hard lesson to learn.
Spike: Yeah man, I just wish I didn't have to hurt my friend to learn it.
Twilight: Don't be too hard on yourself dude, he's happy. So, no harm no foul.
  • The CMC (namely Scootaloo) helping Gabby realize she doesn't need a Cutie Mark:
Gabby: I'm just a basic bitch just like every other griffon.
Scootaloo: Dude. Gabs. I know you think cutie marks are better than tits, but they really don't fucking matter, man. A cutie mark is just a trophy that says you did something, it's just an afterthought to the thing itself. People who are obsessed with representations of their accomplishments rather than the accomplishments themselves are vapid assholes. And trust me, we used to be vapid assholes.
    • The ending shows Scootaloo reminding us that she still wishes to fly someday, followed by her in the dream world flying.
  • In the "Every Little Thing She Does" video, Starlight tries to see if she's Twilight's best friend by asking her which friend she would save, if she could only choose. Twilight's answer? She wouldn't have to, because she'll always save all of them somehow.
  • This exchange from P.P.O.V:
Twilight: Goddammit, Spike! How many times do these bitches have to get mad at each other for some poorly reason and sulk around like a bunch of salty cum buckets? How many times do they have to learn not to get butt hurt over some trivial bullshit? I'm so fucking pissed right now, I almost want to fuck off.
Spike: Man, Twilight, shut the fuck up. Your life would be so much worse without those chicks, you would literally be Moondancer.
    • The ending of the episode, where for once, Twilight actually gives a genuine heartfelt friendship speech:
Twilight: All right, listen, you dumb whores. I sat my sorry ass though each one of you recounting what happened on the boat, and while all your stories were different, they all had one thing in common: they were all bullshit. When I realized that, I was able to extrapolate what actually happened. And the answer is... (drum roll) Who fucking cares? Guys, we're best friends, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to do dumb shit and piss each other off all the time. Every time one of you has some stupid problem I have to fix, I'm like "holy shit, when will they learn the lesson? When will this end?" But I realized something today: it never will. The ride never ends. Friends aren't people who don't piss you off, they're people you're willing to forgive over and over. Like, even if there was some fantastical Ass Pull of an explanation for why your boat sank, what would it really change? Who cares? Nobody meant any harm and nobody got hurt, so just drop it. You had a shitty day, but if you stay mad at each other, you're going to have a shitty life.
Applejack: Twilight, you are one corny bitch but whatever, you hornswoggles are my best friends.
  • Trixie of all ponies helping Starlight get over her self-doubt’s during "To Where and Back Again":
Starlight: Last time I took on any kind of responsibility, I ruined a bunch of people's lives and that was nowhere near as big as this. You don't know what I was like.
Trixie: Yeah dude, I don't know. And I don't fucking care. All I know is that you're my best friend, alright? Look, I used to be a shitty person too. And back in the day, I would have been happy to see Twilight and her stupid friends turned into some changeling fuck buckets, but right now I'm trying to save them. And it's because of you. This is how we become better people, Starlight. Everyone in this world gets forgiven, whether they deserve it or not. That's just how it works around here. But right now, we have the chance to earn it. I know you can do this, so if you can't trust yourself, just trust me.
    Starlight: Tr...Trixie...I...
Trixie: Also, if we both live through this, I want you to sit on my face.
Starlight: Okay! Time to go save the world!
    • Immediately afterwards, when Trixie pulls a Heroic Sacrifice to buy Starlight some time, DWK admits that despite often thinking of her as an asshole she's pretty cool, even if he still thinks she's out of her mind. Even saying he'd rather have one friend as crazy as her, but was willing to die for him, than ten "normal" friends.
  • Luna congratulating Starlight for saving all of Equestria:
Luna: I could have gone to anyone in Equestria for help, but I knew you were one chick who wouldn't fuck up. The only person who ever doubted you was yourself. So fucking stop that shit! Alright?
  • Discord actually apologizing for being a jerk to Trixie earlier and saying she's alright... and if he didn't already have Fluttershy, he would go after her.
    • Him not so subtly encouraging Trixie to make a move on Starlight, who she has a crush on, before offering to go ride flying pigs with her.

     Season Seven
  • In "Celestial Advice", Princess Celestia manages to pull Twilight out of her funk, not by giving Twi some wise advice, but by telling Twi that she had already surpassed Celestia herself and would know how to solve her problems better than her own mentor.
  • After Maud questions why Starlight likes kites, despite it being for kids.
Starlight: I just really like kites.
Maud: I respect you for pursuing your passion regardless of any potential social stigma, but that's still pretty gay.
Starlight: Hey, I can't argue with that. Want to help me fly my big gay kite?
    Maud: Fuck yes.
    • In the same episode, Pinkie actually manages to talk Maud out of attempting suicide and giving friendship a try.
    • Starlight making it clear that Maud is still welcome to be her friend, despite running out on her before hand.
  • After Scootaloo brushes off the other CMC member's concerns about her sling shotting herself into Cloudsdale by claiming she has nothing to live for, her friends remind her that she has them.
  • In "Triple Threat," after Ember and Steve give each other advice, Ember says that the best way to start becoming a better person is to just try. Eventually, you'll be so confident that you'll radiate it.
  • In the last part of "A Health of Information", it is revealed that the only reason Twilight wasn't taking the situation as seriously as she should, was because she was unaware that Zecora could die from it, and immediately goes into full serious mode and just set the bees on fire to get to the honey they need.

     Season Nine
  • Quibble's love interest giving a quiet, heartfelt speech that it is ago to miss someone who is gone but letting someone new into your life isn't replacing them. Because if they truly loved you they'd wouldn't want their memory to keep you from being happy.
