- In the manga, it is revealed that Kaname is actually the progenitor of the Kuran family. Kaname's memories explain how he put himself to sleep after the death of his suggested love interest. Then, ten thousand years later, he was awoken by his descendant, Rido. How is it possible for Kaname to have descendants? He was never shown with children or any Kuran relatives before the time he started sleeping.
- They might be the first generation of people he turned into vamps. Alternatively, he may have been in an arranged marriage or had some purebloods as mistresses. Or he may have had relatives who continued the line for him. Afterall its mentioned that the Kuran house had been the ruling dynasty in the past before they forfeited the role to another house.
