    Sohu and Uriel
  • This is from the later parts of the story, so I'll spoiler it just in case: Why doesn't Sohu warn Uriel about the incoming missile from the Other King? She had at least a few moments of time, once THARMAS made it clear that the missile wasn't aimed at Colorado. She is Kabbalistically Married to Uriel, so she could have warned him instantly using telepathy! Now, you could argue that we've seen limitations to Marriage-telepathy before, but none of them really hold here: Consciousness isn't an issue, as both Uriel and Sohu are conscious at the time. Distance can't be the issue, because Uriel created Kabbalistic Marriage specifically to keep in touch with Sohu, and he knew she'd be in Colorado for much of the time. That leaves mental state, in that Aaron had trouble communicating with Ana when he was distracted or distraught, but... This is Sohu we're talking about. One of the Cometspawn, and possibly the most powerful one. And Uriel was her best friend. It's hard to believe she couldn't find the willpower to concentrate and make it work. We don't even see her try, which is especially weird! This is made worse by the fact that Uriel is explicitly stated to be dependent on getting warnings about incoming missiles to let him know whether they are a threat or just a message. So it can't be impossible for someone with Sohu's powers to contact him in time to warn him. If nothing else, why doesn't she teleport into Uriel's hurricane as a bolt of lightning to tell him in person?
    • If Sohu warned Uriel, then the apocalypse would have happened under far less favorable conditions. Uriel wouldn't have the power to blast Thamiel during Sohu's battle with him, and all of the other characters wouldn't be in place for the laundry list of contrivances required for a happy ending. All things considered, it's likely that The Comet King wouldn't get The Name, and Aaron, Ana, Uriel, THARMAS, and the rest of the gang probably wouldn't have fused into the god-thing at the end. God would never have instantiated a universe in which either of these things went wrong.
