  • How did the Enterprise beam out Scotty and Geordi when the ship's shields were raised?
    • The Jenolan's shields are seventy years behind the state of the art, and quite obviously failing as well as also concentrated fore and aft rather than forming an even bubble. More up-to-date transporter tech obviously had no problem dealing with all that.
    • I always assumed Geordi and Scotty dropped the shields at the last second so they could be safely beamed out, with the Enterprise close enough that the loss wouldn't deprive them of too much time to get out.
    • Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you beam through shields if you know the shield frequency?
      • No. If you could then they wouldn't have the issue of a ship being unable to beam through it's own shields which happens very frequently in Star Trek.
  • How did the holodeck know to recreate the Enterprise bridge as it looked during the TOS era, not movie era?
    • The holodeck presumably built the recreation based on the original specs rather than the refit.
    • Presumably, the shown 'original' bridge is the default. Or, for some reason, you would need to explicitly state "Enterprise, [post-]refit" to see that one.
