• Once again, everyone just seems to take it as a matter of course that an alien species' lifespan is comparable to a human's. Troi doesn't know that Lumerians are empathic, but when Alkar states that his aged "mother" is in her nineties, and later when Crusher states that she's in her thirties, no one needs to be told how these ages correspond to human years.
  • Starfleet seems to be familiar enough with those civilizations that it's entirely likely they already have biological data on Lumerian, at least on things like lifespans. Plus it's probable that many human-like species live for about the same as Earth humans.
