• Barclay asks Geordi if anything strange had ever happened to him while using the transporter. Geordi replies "No, not really". Apparently, Geordi either forgot that one time a couple of episodes ago the transporter turned him and Ro intangible and the whole crew thought they were dead or somehow doesn't consider that to be "strange".
  • In all fairness, an experimental Romulan cloaking device was mostly responsible for that. Geordi probably left it out due to the extenuating circumstances or just to keep Barclay from freaking out worse using A Certain Point Of View.
• Once again, we're left wondering why the hell Barclay volunteered for Starfleet in the first place. He may be a brilliant engineer, but there must be countless opportunities to practice engineering in environments that he would find less stressful. It's even more jarring with this episode's revelation that he does whatever he can to avoid transporters. Surely there must be plenty of good engineering jobs on Earth, where Barclay would never need to transport anywhere.
  • In fairness to Barclay, even Dr. McCoy had trouble with transporting.
  • It's also worth pointing out that by the time of Star Trek: Voyager, he had been reassigned to Starfleet HQ in San Francisco.
