  • So, Farley Flavors keeps on mentioning his goal of "putting mental health back on the menu". What does this actually entail? This is important to the plot, but I don't think the movie actually explains what this means.
    • Presumably it means Farley's planning on opening some sort of mental care hospital that runs on the fast food model; it's probably safe to assume Dentonvale was a practice run for this sort of thing, and if you remember how well the McKinleys took care of Brad, you can imagine how it'd turn out. But again, this is mostly speculation, as stated above, the movie forgets to actually explain what Farley Flavors is planning.
    • So, think back to Farley's song. I always thought the opening lines were so smartly written. "Why aren't they doing tomorrow's new dance steps the way they used to yesterday? And who draws a perfect circle anymore?" These lines are total gibberish. Nobody ever drew a perfect circle and wanting the future to look like the past is silly. It's an empty appeal to nostalgia, a rather successful attempt to touch on a desire inside for the familiar. Farley's spouting nonsense the entire movie to manipulate the masses by using meaningless buzzwords. The whole "Mental Hygiene" thing is just a made-up concept that he could use to make people do what he wants. Mental health is a positive thing, right? Well, do whatever I say and you can have it easily. In fact, one of the things we associate most with hygiene is washing so "Mental Hygiene" can just be considered a Stealth Pun for "brainwashing". The actual name of the show "The Faith Factory" gives you the real point of the show, to create a cult of personality that Farley can use to take over the world. At least, that's how I always read the film.
  • What is meant by the title phrase of "Look What I Did to My Id?" The id is the concept of basic unrestrained human impulses and urges, and the song is sung by everyone wrapped up in the conspiracy, so...what? Are they saying they've repressed a better part of themselves in order to proceed, or are they saying they've embraced their id somehow and that they're living unrestrained?
