  • "There came a time when the Old Gods died!"... So why can Diana still hang around with the Olympians? Do they not count as "Old Gods"?
    • Bearing in mind that the mythos may well have evolved past Kirby's original intentions... no. The Olympians (and presumably Earth's other gods) are part of the Third World. The Old Gods (the ones who did the dying) were of the Second World; the destruction of their planet resulted in both the Third and Fourth ones.
    • New Gods lore is fairly convoluted due to other writers after Kirby muddying the waters. Death of the New Gods for example, by Jim Starlin, would imply that Gods like Zeus and Odin were part of the “Old Gods”, and that they did die in the Great War. In which case your question would have merit. How can Diana hang out with Zeus if he died long before she would’ve been born? But more often than not Zeus isn’t counted among that group of Gods who made war and gave birth to the New Gods. The “Old Gods” mostly go unnamed so you can see them as being similar to the “Elder Gods” over in Marvel Comics; a group of even more ancient deities that predates any of the ones we see running around today.
  • Normally, I don’t worry about the logistics of even very out-there settings. But Apokalips sits right on the border between mostly logical and purely fantastical and so I can’t help wondering where they get food and water.
