Headscratchers / Midnight in Paris

Go To

  • So how does Gil travel through time? Is it the clock, the street?
    • The car. Each time he goes back to the 1920s, he does so by accepting ride in an antique car. When he and Adrianna go to La Belle Epoque, they do so by accepting a ride in a horse-drawn carriage from the period.
    • A mix of factors that lead to the path to another time being opened, presumably. Everything has to be just right for him, or presumably anyone, to travel. Has to be that specific streetcorner, it has to be midnight, and, most importantly, he has to be willing to get in the car when it rolls up. He and Inez waited on the corner for a while for the car to show up and nothing happened until the clock struck midnight.
  • How the Hell did Gil manage to find the diary of a nobody from ninety years ago at a street stall in the middle of Paris?
    • Not much of a nobody.
  • How could Gil pay for his drinks in 1920? The money is different and all.
    • Perhaps everybody was paying for him, since he was like "the tourist" and "their guest" or whatever.
  • Où est Le Courbusier?
    • Oui, et ou est Ezra Pound? note
  • Why is everyone saying that Inez sleeps with Paul? She does say "Yes, I did", but it can be just plain old sarcasm right? Have I missed something?
