• Why didn't Marius tag along with Cosette and Gavroche to Montreuil-sur-Mer, shouldn't he have wanted to hear about what happened to Fantine too?
  • He probably had to work on his lawyer studies. Not to mention his whole "Empty Seats at Empty Tables" thing.
• If Fantine couldn't get a job, because she has a child, why didn't she just hide Cosette and lie?
  • Given how easily Fantine lost her job in the first place, it wouldn't have been a matter of if she could hide Cosette but when they find out that she's hiding Cosette.
